All of us Ducks know how slow Thomas is........... Quite frankly, he really hasn't run the ball all that much. He's more of a thrower than runner. Not that he can't tuck it and go. He certainly can. Hopefully he continues to use good judgment in that area and run when defenses give him space. I'd expect the Ducks to pass more this year. Better stable of WRs.
Nope, that is Dave Kragthorpe, ours is his son, Steve. He has most recently been the HC at Tulsa and Louisville. He is a true QB coach, which is something we have been without since Jimbo Fisher left for FSU after the 2006 season. Honestly, your guess is as good as mine on what's up with the offense. We know that we are extremely talented at every position, it just all comes down to whether or not the QB position is an asset or a liability. Crowton, the old OC, tended toward gimmicky substitution packages and weird play calling that never really had any continuity. The story on Kragthorpe seems to be that he favors keeping the best 11 guys on the field and calling more fundamental plays that suit their strengths. I hope we see a power running game with less option, more play-action, and successful down field passing game.
As a Duck, former Oregon OC Crowton would have been a welcome sight to see on the LSU sideline. I could never figure out why you guys hired a OC that was getting ready to be fired at Oregon. We (fans) use to sit in the stands and call the play BEFORE the snap. He was so predictable I don't know how we ever scored. I mean the opponent's defense should have known what virtually EVERY play coming at them was. Hated that guy, I was so glad to see him gone. You guys suffered with him a long time. Like I said I think the Oregon defense would have had a much easier time with the LSU offense if Crowton was OC.
Oh ha, that's right, of course you know who he is. I totally didn't think about that connection. Yeah, once DCs caught on, it was game over. He did give us a BCS championship in year 1, though.
Yea, actually it was. AU had a number of big plays late due to a D that was on the field the entire 2nd half and yet, the LSU O still only had to make a TD to tie it. You can blame the D all you want, but they never lost us a game....
You cant judge by off yards alone. For example, during the Tenn game, it was never really close according to some of yalls perspective b/c we had about 450 total yards to their 217.. However, we all know how close that game was...
If it was as close of a game as you seem to think, then they did lose us that game (as well as arky) because they just had to stop ONE big play to keep it a tie. But the reality of it was that we got dominated, and on BOTH sides of the ball.
I still don't the logic... I mean, with any type of O that could take time off the clock would have yielded better results by the D. A D that did not play great, but gave LSU MORE than enough chances to win.... And in the Ark game, how many times did we see the LSU O get in the red zone and fail to convert? The D wasn't perfect, but it was good enough to go 14-0.... I have always believed this to be true that the thing that hurt our LSU D the most was the O.
