I'm putting in my vote for Tom Herman as far as a coach we could actually get over here. Only 40 years old. Has been a huge success as an OC everywhere he has gone. Now Houston's offense is near the top in the nation and very well balanced run and pass (9th in the nation in scoring). The team averages 242 run, 252 pass. Had a 3rd string QB at Ohio State play lights out on their way to a national championship last season (btw, that offense is not so terrific this season without him). This was Tirk's pick, so good call there. Dynamic offense. Not sure what we would do with ourselves watching that. We did get a taste of it in 2007, which helped win us a championship.
Couple it with the hire of a great experienced DC and you have a very good shot at success. But can he navigate the SEC consistently? My only question on Herman, is how good of a HC is he? I know he is a great offensive mind and he has shown that impressively at multiple levels.
