Dabo Swinney John Gruden Bob Stoops Chip Kelly Mark Dantonio Jimbo Fisher B list Bronco MendenHall Herman Fuentes Freeze guy at Louisville
My biggest worry with Jimbo is the off field problems. He doesn't seem to have control of his players. Man, I hope they move quickly. If Fisher doesn't take the job, I'd go after Gary Patterson and then either Herman or Fuente. But don't dawdle. If you gonna do it, get 'er done.
Jimbo has had his share of off the field problems, but I'm not so sure many major teams have done a whole lot better. We've certainly had our share as has Bama, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio State and many others. Getting it done quickly would be great, but it seems there is always hitches, hiccups and delays in a coaching search. Hopefully this one is quick, smooth and very successful, but I stocked up on tums just in case.
I meant mentioned in the larger discussion, not here...basically dismissed in some articles under the category of "rising stars" who will not be looked at.
I don't know if we will actually get Fisher but I think it is a real possibility. I don't see Patterson leaving TCU. Sweeney is waiting for the Bama job to open up. Herman might come depending on other offers he'll receive. Imho, Fuente is a fall back choice and would make me pretty nervous. He might want the OU job when Stoops is out. Mike and Mike mentioned Chip Kelly and LSU in the same sentence this morning. I'd also consider him a fall back choice. Seems Fisher might be the best fit and the best choice. I gotta think Alleva has someone (Fisher?) up his sleeve to be going public so early about Miles ouster.
I find it hard to believe they have done more than put out feelers and talk to agents through back channels. They can't actually talk to a coach without his ADs permission. Anything they have in the works at this point is almost surely in its infant stage.
Read the 3rd paragraph. Can't seem to copy it on my phone. Apparently it's not a rule or requirement but an out of fashion professional courtesy. http://espn.go.com/blog/travis-haney/insider/post?id=4998
Exactly...I think that is a mistake, especially if they whiff on Jimbo (who definitely should be first choice). As someone who has watched what Fuente has done up close for years, I think he is worth a look, and has a huge upside. Miles interviewed him for OC in 2011.
