I agree, we should go after Shaw. All things considered I'd probably prefer him over Fisher. Just saying, I don't see him leaving. I hope you're right about Fisher. As for Kiffen, I have trouble saying it myself. I do feel he will have learned valuable lessons not to stick his foot in his mouth. I think he will do a good job in his next job. If we go after a Bama coach I'd prefer Smart.
I know the LSU faithful would disagree, but many up this way would consider that a lateral, at best moved. He will never buy another beer in SC, and with the demise of Spurrier he has it made. I'd love to get him, but don't think so.
Ideal but don't know if we could get any of them: Dabo, Jimbo, Shaw or Patterson. More Likely to get but I'd worry a little: Smart, Herman or Fuente Heard his name and really don't want: Kiffen, Mullen, Muschamp, Edsall, or Schiano
Shaw is a good coach but probably knows nothing about the SEC. There would be a learning curve and a period of time that it would take him to establish relationships with the high school coaches in Louisiana and Texas as well as Florida and Georgia where we get a lot of our players. Remember the last guy we hired from Stanford? Trent Johnson as a good coach for the Trees but a terrible fit on the bayou. Dabo is staying at Clemson until Nick Saban retires at Alabama. He is the Head Gump in Waiting.
Current situation, I agree it is basically a lateral move. However there is probably a bit more potential with LSU.
Agreed, LSU has more pressure and a tougher road to the playoffs. I don't see him or Jimbo coming for that reasons(more difficult schedule and $$$). Although Bengal has reason to think Jimbo would leave FSU.
I like Fedora, but not sure I want him at LSU. Remember what happened the last time we hired a former Southern Miss coach. Those that ignore the past are doomed to repeat it.
