Would you keep Corey Raymond? A lot DB's come to play for him. Id keep Frank, Corey, Ed and maybe Moffit.
You hire Jimbo Fisher and tell him anything he needs to do is cool. If he wants to change the name of the new bridge to Testicles Boulevard it's ok by you. Hand him the keys and get the fuck out of the way.
Very hard to argue with that. Albeit its the ACC, Jimbo puts together dominant football teams and competes for championships. Look at his 2013 championship team, all 22 starters. They are either on an NFL roster (most starters) or leaving this season as a highly touted picks. Even the damn kicker.
Proof? I worked S&C at LSU and have been to multiple pro-days and junior days with the team. In addition, I have seen the S&C programs at many other schools, as well as NFL teams. The current S&C coach at Bama, Ole Miss, and FSU all mentored under Moffitt, as did Bama's current assistant, who was previously Florida's head S&C coach for football. Prior to Bama's current assistant working at Florida, he was the head S&C coach at App State when they won the DI-AA National Championship. There are also some guys who worked with Moffitt who have become head S&C coaches at DII schools, and one of them, who is also one of my former students, is working with elite level athletes in another country. All of them run a program that is very similar to that which Moffitt runs, and they are open about saying this. When I was there, and Miles was thinking about leaving for Mich. many of the players, to include the ones who had been there under $aban, said repeatedly that the one guy other than Pelini that they didn't want to lose was Moffitt. Saban tried very hard to get Moffitt to come with him when he left for the NFL and again when he got to Bama. Saban, Fisher, and Muschamp all called Moffitt to get his opinion on who they would hire as S&C coach. Moffitt did not invent what he does, and he is open about giving credit to Gayle Hatch, whom Moffitt also mentored under, and who Moffitt took much of his program from. What Moffitt does is get the guys on the team to buy in and commit, and he is also very organized, and a great motivator.
id take him before mullen. Or Kiffin. who is an absolute dumpster fire just waiting to happen. Keep that fucker off our campus.
This x 1000. If LSU is about to do this to Miles, we'd better be way smarter than that. I would not be opposed to the Fisher hire. David Shaw would be at the top of my list, but Baton Rouge is an obvious step down in living from Palo Alto (it just is...we must be honest.) However, coaches are competitive mofos (Miles used to be...), and playing in the gauntlet of the SEC West is what gets the adrenaline pumping. Maybe he would...he will not be winning a NC at Stanford; it just won't happen. I like Shaw.
