I'd prefer Herman out of those three. Fuente is lacking any major program experience and I'm iffy on Jimbo. Herman has good experience and a good track record just not much as a HC and he has been an OC at major programs. Here's something I like: "Rice ranked in the Top 10 nationally in 2008 in passing offense (5th; 327.8), scoring offense (T8th; 41.6) and total offense (10th; 472.3). Two Rice receivers had more than 1,300 yards receiving that year, tight end James Casey had 111 catches and quarterback Chase Clement was the Conference USA MVP." The thought of having a HC that knows the TE is an eligible receiver really excites me! Not to mention that he seems to have a clue about offense period.
If it was up to me I would probably take a chance on Herman. But his limited head coaching experience makes it a gamble and Alleva is not the gambling type. Herman could be a home run but he could also be a strikeout vs the SEC West. Hiring Jimbo may or may not be a home rum but it would be at least a triple.
I remember Jimbo's offense the last time he was here and it wasn't impressive. Maybe he's come a long way since then, but I'm skeptical. A lot of the things being said about Miles offense were being said about Jimbo's. I remember on every running play the H-back would come down the line of scrimmage pre snap slow down and start hopping at the gap where the run was comming. You knew every time when a run play was coming and what hole is was going to 2-3 seconds before the snap. I don't watch a ton of Florida St games because I'm usually at the LSU game, but if his offense hasn't changed considerably, no thanks.
