Without reading thru the game thread, was anyone as pissed off as me after the bad call on the fake FG? I realize the play could have been run smoother, but he made a great effort and did cross the plain.
They got robbed but they had the whole second half to win and did get control of the game only to lose it in the end like we have a few times this season, I honestly saw it coming.
No one. Professional official nor casual observer can debate that this was a touchdown. Video was clear. Camera angle straight down the goal line with no obstructions. Difficult to comprehend that a professional official can review that play and not make the right call and ultimately take the game away from the players. I heard the explanation that if it had been called a TD on the field the play would have stood. I've heard this all year in college and the pros. It's a BS approach. The play either was or it wasn't. It doesn't matter what you called on the field. If you look at the video and it shows touchdown then you give me the 6 points. Just a shame that these kids had to endure off field crap with Chavis which obviously affected the team, play a pretty strong ND Team and then try to beat the refs. That's a tall order. And two of those three obstacles shouldn't be there.
With the terrible quality of college officials right now (the game has gotten better and faster than they are) relying on officials to give you an even shot is a recipe for a 6-6 season. You have to whip a team's ass so bad, that even with a bad call, or four, you still prevail. Just how it is. Fortunately the call was so terrible there can be no debate. But that don't matter a lot either.
Hard to be pissed after a bad call when they didn't play well enough (save for the handful that contributed) to win, anyway.
Damn Shane, when I tried to like your post, I was asked by the board, "Are you sure you want to like this post?" Are you on the shitlist or something?
I knew we were in trouble when they didn't even bother to review the opening kickoff. He clearly fumbled and the announcers pointed it out as well. I don't know if we recovered it or not, but it should have at least been reviewed. That is the "luck of the Irish" and it has been going on for years.
