I'm not saying ULL should have won the game. That would be delusional. I am saying that had they scored from inside the 5, they might have felt like they actually had a chance and maybe played better. The dropped passes killed them. On ULL opening drive the guy dropped a long pass that was in his hands. That could have possibly put the Cajuns up 7 or 3-0 at worst.

They did have a chance to keep the game close, but the head coach is a headcase. Miles should have relayed the play to Bustle when the Cajuns were threatening to score inside the 5, just to make the game interesting. Do you think Miles would have run 4 times? I doubt it.

Stopping ANYONE 4 times that close is inspiring to ANY defense. Man it seems like a long time since LSU had a true goal-line stand like that and they were, and should be proud.

Stopping an offense from scoring anywhere in the red zone is pretty much a huge deal for defensive players. You start to feed off of it, it becomes a matter of defensive pride. Once you start giving that up, morale can get pretty low in the huddle or any time you get in the red zone.

Stopping a team on the 1 inch line 4 times in a row is a huge feet, its pretty easy to score when you are that close as an offense. And its something to be very proud of, saying otherwise is something someone who knows nothing about football would say.

Not against inferior opponents like ULL. Of course they should have stopped the run 4 times. LSU's D is twice the size of ULL's O and that goes for any player. ULL RB was what, 5'6 and a buck 80? LSU's line could easily push the Oline back 2-3 yards. They are stronger and much more talented.

When we play FLa we will find out what this team is made of.

"ULL will never be able to compete with LSU because they cant recruit. If you are a college football player looking to make the Pros, SEC is the road to take, ULL is not even a thought. Add to that the fact that LSU is usually a dominant team and its a no brainer where the kid will go to school."...saints fan 1977

That may be true, but don't tell that to Utah who was in the same situation vs Bama and just strapped 'em up and laid an old fashioned whoopin' on them Gumps.

(are the saints for real this year?)

I realize you do not want to hear this, but you are dead wrong IMO. Obviously they were moving it on us......since they were on the 1 yard line! So LSU had to man up and stop a team that was running downhill. Size is huge on the goal line, but so is heart, a tough lineman 20 lbs lighter can still get lower and drive a bigger man back a yard. We are talking about a yard. That is why it was/is impressive.
Your point is less valid if you look at there little D Line getting a safety against our HUGE Oline (sorry, I think KW was in the end zone). We were way bigger on Oline but no push.
    Inferior opponent....yada yada.....It was an impressive stop.....period

Yes the Saints are for real this year. They look like the best team in the NFL as of now. We will find out how good they are after week 5 when we play the Giants. I don't see us losing to Buffalo or the Jets at the Dome.
