Even though it was against UL-L, who a lot of people here said were really good... Our D did stop 4 attempts inside 1 yard line to get the ball back. There is some light in this tunnel. I think we'll get better, and I think Lee is going to see some playing this year, and he'll do a nice job of backing the defenses up with some nice deep tosses.
31-3. What do you want? We play to the competition. Miles/Crowton were screwing around with the passing attack tonight. Settle down, fool.
I'm worried about MSU. I think that we are going to be in a dog fight (pardon the pun) next week. They are not going to lie down (dang it, another one). We could be in trouble folks...
They were and I think that was the right thing to do. Doesn't change the fact that our lines were unimpressive against La La, and we won't be playing against any lines that are weaker. I'll try to knock off the whining. This is LSU ball under Miles and we've won a NC with it. I was mostly defending him last season, but I have to admit my doubts about Miles are returning. I'll try to fight it, MilesFan.
Unispiring, unimpressive, whatever, again Vegas was on the money. We were expected to win by 27-27 1/2, we beat that @ 28. I'd say that was what we were supposed to do.
Yeah, I thought about that. I know they wanted to air it out to see what Jefferson could do, that's for sure. And I am glad we did. We know we have some work to do.
And the coaches didn't get that bold against UW or Vandy because they couldn't afford to screw around too much, or we'd have lost. Now, the coaches know exactly what JJ needs to work on in his long passing game. I could tell last night that he's being taught not to just abandon the pocket. He stood tall in their several times, when before he would've just run for his life. With that being said, the play by both lines concerns me a great deal. We should've been able to run on ULL at will. And we couldn't, though I was impressive with the determination coming from Charles Scott later in the game. It was as if he'd stepped his game up a notch. This team is playing hard right now, but there are many, many questions yet to be answered. The key will be in seeing whether we will improve as the year goes on, which is a hallmark of good teams, or if the weaknesses we see right now will make us crumble, like we did last year. Only time will tell.
But that's what I don't understand. People said the same thing after Washington game. Then Washington beats USC and their only loss is against us. People said the same thing after the Vandy game. But Vandy was returning 18 starters on a team that began last season 7-0 (beating Ole Miss in the process) and won their first bowl game in 50 years. Vandy then held Miss St (our next opponent) to 5 FG's. People are now saying the same thing after last nights game. But UL-L's only loss was last night after starting the season 2-0 and a win against K-State (now that K-State win doesn't look so good since they went down @UCLA last night, but the game was a 1 score contest until the Bruins scored on a busted play at the end of the game). I guess what I'm "miffed" about is the negativity simply because OF the perception of the talent on the teams we have played. If UW goes bowling and ULL wins 7 or 8 games and wins the SBC, would everyone that violently voiced their displeasure for the way we won against these same schools come back to eat crow??? This is college football. You CAN be a program that traditionally stumbled but turn it around and actually be a good team dispite your history. There's no rule that says just because you stunk in the past, you have to remain in the cellar.
