Yes. Pure sarcasm. Didn't bother to get his/her feet wet. Just drops a bomb about changing the helmet. Sad.
Sorry old timer, but I didn't see the road map a dry footed newbie is supposed to follow. Get used to it, lots of people LOVE THE TIGERS yet don't agree 100% with everything you say. Let me know the right number of "I agree with you" posts I'm supposed to have before I can share an opinion. Sad that some people think they are the elder statesmen of ANY site.
It's an opinion and, as such, I have the opinion that it's the worst idea ever. For me the :tigerhead is the true, 100% LSU logo and the helmet is the last glimmer of it we have. The reason I think podnuh is saying this is a bad first post because, if you have been here awhile, you would realize that we have a lot of first posters who come on here suggesting uniform changes and most of the long-time posters here would rather have an embolism than do that. http://www.tigerforums.com/tigers-den/85203-lsu-football-uniform-ideas.html http://www.tigerforums.com/tigers-den/68386-lsu-uniforms.html We see these type of posts each year.
I appreciate the reasonable and respectful approach of your comment. While uniform changes upset many (myself included with the last "one time" uniform) it is a passion about LSU sports and football that bring many of us "newbies without our feet wet" to the site. I mean what would 'podnah' have said when the helmets changed from numbers to LSU and the Tiger? What I don't appreciate are people who comment from a level of perceived superiority simply because they have been on a site longer than others. If this site is truly a forum for ideas, my thought is to embrace the passion if not the idea and don't dump on people who are joining and helping the site flourish. I'm just sayin....................
Watching Pitt vs. Cincy......... the gold LSU helmets vs. Arkansas look a LOT like the PITT helmets...... Eye of the Tiger or AS IS, please DON'T change to that look on a permanent basis.
I think you get your feet wet with your very first post !! Insight is a thought process that has nothing to do with the number of posts. That would be like correlating point of view with typing speed or playstation3 ability. What makes this board a good one is a couple of things. First, no personal attacks...I've gone overboard a few times and simply apologized for doing so in a later post. Each time I've done that The other person posted back implying all was OK. Second, people here try very hard to post in the proper forum and thread. There's no need for a million "Fire Les Miles" threads...although some would say there's a need for a million "fire Les Miles" posts. That being said, Put me down in the To heck with uniform tradition column. Image needs to change sometimes. I don't understand when people who don't give a hoot about fashion and colors when it comes to their personal wardrobe, go nuts when the football jerseys change a little. I can't understand how that could rock someone's world. Major change like team colors...I can understand. The type of stripes on a jersey...I can't. The eye of the tiger replacing the tiger head on the helmets would be fine with me.
Sorry, I didn't mean to wear through your thin skin. There are plenty of newly registered members that contribute to the forum immediately, without opening up another topic on a horse that is not only dead, but decayed. I can assure you that I don't sit on a level of superiority based upon my longevity. If you would have taken the time to survey the topics on the board beyond the first page, you may have learned something about the board and its regular members. If you can't take a little ribbing about your first post, don't bother hanging around. We can flourish without thinned-skinned, whiny complainers. There are plenty of heated discussions on this board, much more so than anything in this thread. LSU Uni's are some of the most recognizable in football. When you have a brand, and its been very successful, you don't go a changing (e.g., Toonces). And its Podnuh, with a U. :thumb:
No thin skin here CaptainPodnuh with a U. (and it's thin-skinned ). For the record, I perused the first three pages. Your original response said good first post...then an about face or a loss of sarcasm. You're entire rationale had to do with "not even getting his/her feet wet"...sounded superior to me. By the way, I've been branding professionally for nearly 30years. I get it. Every brand gets freshened up over time. Line up Budweiser packaging through the years. That brand has been just a little successful. Oh well, this has gone on long enough. I'm on here to learn about the Tigers, meet new people with similar interests, give and take some grief. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts and taking more of your ribbing. Hang in there CaptainPodnuh with a U.:tigereye::tigerhead
As I said, one reason I'm here is to learn....what are Toonces? Thanks for letting me know, seriously:thumb:
