I would be willing to say two of Flynn's INTs aren't his fault, just the secondary making a play. But the dump off one was, put a little too much air on the ball.
i agree. i am not saying we were perfect and that there weren't any, but some calls were a bit suspect. so were the lack of a few calls.
I'll agree that we are not the most disciplined team, but I most certainly will not take the pentalty total tonight as proof of that. Some of the calls against us were total chicken****, and the refs missed quite a few holding calls agains Bama, not to mention a couple of pass interference calls. Any time I see that big of a discrepancy in the penalty totals, I call bull****. Given a few of the calls on the field, I was shocked that the review guy overturned so many calls.
Bama was the second to LEAST penalized team in the SEC coming in to the game; LSU was the MOST penalized........hate to bring out ANY negatives after a GREAT win but I was infuriated during the game with how our consistencies kept them in it. I'm stoked for the team and Miles, just want to see us clean it up on the self control. We did just beat effin Bama......AGAIN.
There's no doubt that there is a discipline problem, and therefore there is a coaching problem. But it's not an insurmountable problem. The leaders on this team (Flynn, Hester, Steltz, Dorsey, Doucet) play cleanly. It's time for CLM to enlist their help in policing their teammates. Many of the penalties I've seen this season are just stupid - bad decisions. Here's the flip side. Bama is a good football team. AND they have a great coaching staff. AND we played them at home. AND Flynn threw 3 ints. AND LSU had 14 penalties to their 2. AND LSU won another fourth quarter battle. Teams that play below their potential but keep winning have the potential to put it all together at exactly the right time. I don't have a problem with LSU being that team. As long as they keep playing until the whistle blows, like they did tonight. Remember when, at this point in the season, we were wondering if we would be able to get a bowl bid......ANY bowl bid? It wasn't that long ago. :geaux:
I see the stupid/bad penalties as an issue with the particular players mental toughness and smartness. Some players prob. need more coaching and mental conditioning than others.
This is the second post from you I have seen on two different threads. Go start a "haters" thread so I can know NOT to click in and hear CRAP like this after we win. Wait till Monday before you become ARM CHAIR COACH. Jesus, we won the freaking game...can we enjoy that for a minute before you RIP the team!!???
And the interesting thing is, in the second quarter, I was just about to say that the game was being called pretty well, then I see Saban chawing at a ref. The next thing I know, we're having something called on us left and right. The penalties did not start until we were up 17-3. Now, I know that some of them were correct calls, but I agree that the differential was weird. But on that note, I really wanted Carnell Stewart to sit the bench after he took his helmet off. I hope, truly hope, that Coach Miles addresses the unsportsmanlike issue quickly.
And, tiga, don't forget. Coach Miles has just, again, beaten Florida, AU, and Alabama in the same season. No other coach in LSU history did it even once; now Les Miles has done it twice in three years. I don't want that coaching feat to get lost in nitpicking, and I was as upset as everyone else during most of the game tonight.
