What I'm hearing is that you favor a coach based on his popularity rather than for his performance. Whatever blows your hair back. I think its crazy.
The sentiment towards Miles changed pretty quick on him during the '08 season. And actually, it started with the Mallory Peveto decision. Then the terrible O-Line. The QB situation Etc. Etc. The complaints and bashers started early and hasn't stopped yet. Not what I would call "a lot of leeway"
Have you been watching Florida this year, so far? They look really bad and undisciplined. And one of my good friends is a Texas alum. She insists that UT didn't win so much as they didn't lose last weekend against Rice. I'll reserve judgement on Alabama until I've had a chance to see them.
It's really simple. You made a personal attack and then said you didn't. That's how you roll. I understand. There are other coaches on other teams that I don't have confidence in, same as Miles. Not crazy about Richt and wouldn't want the guy here. I see a lot of parallels with Miles there.
That's what you're hearing? Might want to get your hearing checked. It's an indicator, that's all. I find this style of debate where you play dumb disingenuous. It's like you want to win, not find a common understanding. My point is really simple and I think it at worst has some validity.
A lot of people, myself included, were concerned about the Malleveto decision, but considering Miles was coming of a NC I was willing to give him a chance to prove us wrong. The QB situation was a tough deal and a lot of us actually thought Miles made the right decision. I still do, at least regarding Perrilloux, though I do bust his balls a bit regarding recruiting the kid in the first place and then putting so many of our eggs in his basket. I was really in the "let's wait and see next year" crowd in the season following the NC. A lot of us were. So while we may have criticized Miles a bit, it wasn't severely unwarranted and it isn't like we were calling for his head.
I agree with everything you say here. It's the kool aid drinkers here who refused to see he had some things we should at least be concerned about. Maybe I should've clarified. Any criticism towards him would net the same result about the NC Championship being thrown in their faces. And I should also say after winning a National Title, a coach deserves SOME leeway but it doesn't mean they're above fallacy either.
a 20 point lead was NOT blown. The lead is blown when the other team actually comes from behind and wins. LSU WON THE GAME!!!!
