Twas neither the opener nor on the road...but don't let the facts skew anything for you. Anyway, didn't feel like wasting space here quoting your entire "unique" diatribe. And yes, judging from the responses in this thread, your opinion IS pretty unique. Just not the way you intended them to be unique.
I'm guessing that you are refering to the 400 yards through the air and not the 24 yards on the ground. UNC was shorthanded, to be sure, but I think too many people bought into the idea that it would be freshmen walkons replacing the missing players. As to giving up 400 yards, yes it was aggravating. The scores through the air came in the fourth quarter, after the other coach had three quarters to figure out what we were doing. They rallied and started going for broke against a defense with starting freshmen. It 's not pretty, I grant you, but it can be improved upon. Tossing it to the wind after one game just seems preemptive to me. As fars as Saints and the Vikings, I'd say it's an ugly win for the Saints. I don't follow pro sports as much as I do college, but the players on that field were the best of the best from college. Comparing seasoned pros to freshmen defenders in college is apples and oranges
My bad, dude. Not that I was that far off, not that my point doesn't hold any validity. Jeezums, unbunch your panties. That's your right, I'm glad you let us know you weren't going to bother to respond. And maybe it's wrong of me, but I'm proud of my zany opinions. :milesmic:
LSU-i-like, I'm in your camp. I have watched LSU deteriorate year after year and all I hear are excuses such as young quarterback, such and such got hurt, and we did score if it weren't for that penalty. I dont remember hearing these types of excuses in 03' or 07' because they were not needed. We recruit the same caliber players as Texas, Florida, Alabama, etc, but what I see trotting out on the field is like night and day compared to these schools. When these teams play, they looked diciplined, confident, and inspired. We look so lost and uninspired at times it's hard to watch. I'm not saying these teams win every game, but a blind man can see the difference between these teams and us. I love LSU and will back them no matter what, but it pains me to see what we did have in 03' and 07' compared to what we have now. We don't have to win a national championship every year or even make a BCS bowl. Just produce a team that doesn't make excuses, and shows up every game ready to play mentally and physically. This is what we have become accustomed to and expect. My 2 cents.... As you can see, no coaches names were mentioned in this, I'm just stating the facts. You can draw you own conclusions....
My only argument is that people ( at least not to this extent) didn't call for sabans head in his 8 win seasons or the blow outs/ close games he coached LSU in. Basicaly the only argument I see recurring for anti miles is the LOOK of the team. Whatever that means. Though I see players working their ass off. Not sure why others feel our players are coached to play at a 50% level. The other point I see( that s wrong) is the assumption tha LSU needs to blow everyone out who isn't ranke or missing a few key players.
----- UNC was able to sustain drives, which is a thing of beauty after watching LSU the past few years. I didn't think we'd be playing scrubs in UNC's second string, but we weren't playing world beaters either, which I'd like the positigers to admit. Again, I don't feel like this was game one. I sincerely feel like we started where we stopped last season and I didn't see enough to feel like I should expect anything different. It was a solid win for the Saints who have room for improvement. I compare LSU to the Saints only in terms of the relative challenge they faced in their first game. I think it is very fair to say that LSU faced a much easier task, relatively, and looked less impressive, relatively, than the Saints did. ----- ----- Saban earned more respect in his time here, I'd say. The positigers say LSU fans are too negative in general and that we don't give Miles a fair chance, but I think you make my point for me. We don't expect perfection, just a coach we can respect that has proven to be more than capable. Miles has achieved much, but there is doubt about how capable he is to continue the success he inherited. -----
please tell me you are not comparing Bear Bryant to Les Miles. I feel dirty just putting their names so close to each other. how many games per year did Bear Bryant coach? was it 10 regular and 1 post season? how many does Miles have the opportunity to coach? 12 regular, 1 sec champ and 1 bowl? 11 games per year compared to 14 per year? so, winning 10 per year out of 11 is the same as winning 10 per year out of 14?
