and I would’ve liked to have seen West Virginia get a shot. From Fiutak. It's a small point, but didn't West Virginia GET their shot and then proceed to lose to Pitt? Also, they talked about how crappy last season was. I didn't think it was a crappy season; I thought it was really interesting--much more interesting than the years like '04 or '05 when the preseason 1 and 2 run wire-to-wire. Every Sunday, people were actually watching Fox to see WHO the top 5 BCS teams would be that week.
Losing to Ark in 3ot is better than getting beat by a team with a losing record (WV, USC) or getting smoked by a team (Ga. by Tenn) Ga whined about being the best at the end of the year, but if it's about who's best at the end of the year, who was better than LSU at the end of 2006? It's the body of work thru the whole season. And we ARE National Champions!
Great perspective. I've been watching college football for 60 years and I thought that 2007 was, perhaps, the most exciting season ever. Every week had markee matchups, competition was great and upsets thrilling. I think, overall, the calibre of ball has steadily improved over the years, making for exciting seasons. The suspense on the last weekend, awaiting the BCS picks, was intense, in the 'hurts so good sense.' It was the candle on the cake, when The Tigers were selected for the big game. Football fans should be so lucky to have every season as good as last year's.
I don't see how anyone can think last season sucked unless they were bitter about their own teams performance. If you were a fan of college football, you loved every second of it.
I was about to get worked up before I read the article, but then I couldn't find anything to get worked up about. Overall, good article! :thumb:
Quote: "Deserve has got nothing to do with it" Mad Dog Mean William Munny of Missouri opens up point blank on Little Bill, sending him to Hell, after what he did to Ned. (Unforgiven, the movie) LSU TOOK THAT :crystal: It was a great article, but "deserve" still has got nothing to do with it.
Fair enough, but what did Pitt bring to the table? Pitt finished 5-7 last year, in a very weak conference. Arkansas finished 8-5 in the freaking SEC. Also, Arkansas had three great running backs (during that game vs. LSU, McFadden had 206 yards, Phillis had 89, and Jones had 85 -- McFadden and Jones went in the 1st round of the 2008 draft, Phillis went in the 7th round). Arkansas also had a DT who went in the 3rd round of the 2008 draft, and an OT and a WR who both went in the 7th round of the 2008 draft. Also, Arkansas had Luigs at center, who is a projected 1st-2nd round pick in the 2009 draft.
serious rivalry game. it should be given tons of value regardless of the record of the teams. kinda like lsu-om, they have played us tough for years. although the backyard brawl is a more bitter rivalry. be serious john. lsu got embarassed at home by an average team. everything was on the line. im pretty sure the hogs didnt get more rushing yds in any other game that season. inexcusable. as far as the wvu-pitt game goes, wasnt slaton out? or was that the game where white went down?
