There was a very interesting show on Exorcisms last night and I thought to myself: "Wow people actually believe in this crap." So I ask you. 1. Do you believe that people can be possessed by the devil and if so do exorcisms work?
excorcism is a pretty mainstream part of christianty and is all over the new testament. jesus was a huge fan of casting out evil spirits. so i wouldnt be surprised if the loonies here believe in it. i also wouldnt be surprised if they didnt, because they dont really believe in the bible at all, they just say they do, and then they just make stuff up to believe or never really think about it, just going along with what they are told.
It sounds silly to say but there are numerouse cases where mental disorders have been ruled out and exorcisms have been performed with success. I guess I am saying yes. Yes I beleive it can happen, and exorcisims have worked.
I would like to see a brain scan for someone who is supposedly possessed, compared to a brain scan of an average brain.
What would that demonstrate. If demonic posession is real then we would be dealing with immaterial supernatural beings.
I guess I'm one of those loonies. I believe the Bible and that Jesus did cast out demons. Could it be happening today? Possibile. But I don't know if it is to the extent the movies make it out to be. The Catholic faith has sacraments of exorsism from what I understand. I'm not Catholic. I find it hard to believe that a true Christian can be possessed, but that's my opinion. Now someone who is into devil worship would quite possibily be open for this. Again, my opinion. I do believe in satan and his powers. I just learned about two weeks ago, that someone kin to me has been involved in devil worship. His mother was telling me about this. Take it for what it's worth. She said that she went to his room to check up on him. Why? I don't know. She said that the door was real hard to open. When she finally got the door open, the room was very hot and had an awful smell. He was laying on his bed in his underwear. He had an old rusty knife that she says she did not even know they owned. He had cut a satanic symbol on himself with that knife. She said the cuts were so deep that she was afraid that it would leave scars. Later, he asked her if she saw the three red splotches/dots that was on his chest. She said, "Yes. What were they?" He said, "That was where satan was telling him to plunge the knife." How would I have handled it? I don't know. What would you say? "Sorry....don't let me interrupt you." "Are you crazy? Never mind..I know that." This was my nephew. Was/is he possessed? I certainly do not know. But I would not tempt satan anymore than I would tempt God.
Hey Martin..........I just received a new book and thought you might would to pick one up too....It's called "I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH FAITH TO BE AN ATHEIST" by Norman L Geisler and Frank Turek.....Looks kind of like a good read..
Who is this "devil" of which you speak? Slavery is illegal, so I presume that he cannot possess anybody. Perhaps you are being metaphorical? Can you frame this question logically?
