USC has the talent to beat and play with anybody in the country. The problem USC has shown over the years is that they cannot put together mental focus/intensity for a complete season and I think a lot of that has to do with the lack of good teams within their conference. Iron sharpens iron and there's not much of it in the PAC-10. :nope:

    Thats my kinda of fun.
Seriously, LSU will probably go to #3, no way the put missouri into that spot, when our Auburn win is probably the most impressive this season to date. If Georgia beats Bama, they should be #1, Oklahoma 4#(even though they havent played anyone), Florida number 2#, LSU#3, that sets up our date with UF as 2# and 3# playing each other. Another great season of college football.

do you USC Or UGA would be ranked 5 if coming of a BCS NC and returning the talent in the trenches we have? some of the whiners are correct. LSU should be #1 based on the idiot pollsters; that is if we were named differently.

I agree with that, but we do have some questions like in our secondary, even though Hawkins has come on pretty strong lately. I thought our linebackers would suffer, I was wrong Sheppard, Cutera, and Riley are beast. I have to give Cutera alot of credit, he had a hell of a game against Auburn. But I get your point. Les Miles is the great equalizer, Pete Carrol overestimated his talent.

actually it doesnt matter what we returned. if we were named USC or UGA or ND coming off a bscnc we would still be ranked #1 until proven otherwise.

hopefully les gained some respect needed to be held atop that perch. the one they blow richt, weis and petey on.

Goes without saying, ESPN, AP sportswriter see it like this Baton Rouge is not LA, we dont have the flashy coach, celebrity boosters, and a million actors on the sidelines during the games. At LSU we are about business, not bull****. Line up and lets hit somebody in the mouth until they puzzy all the way back home. USC is a marketing machine for ESPN and ABC. We arent sophisticated enough to be that for these networks. Well phuck that, I'll take the HAT and a strong recruiting class ever year over some premadonnas.

We're in control of our own destiny at this point. We play two of the teams in front of us. OU and Missouri will negate one or the other, if it even gets to that.

We only needed one of the teams in front of us to lose to be in the driver's seat.

Of course, after the game last night, Fowler and the gang were crowing about how wide open the NC race is now, stating, "Wisconsin, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, Texas...all have legitimate shots at the title now."

C'mon, guys, please just give us the tiniest bit of respect. Or don't--it's all within our power to earn it. We've won two titles in the past five years, but we haven't gone undefeated yet. That would be sweet.

This all but guarantees a 1 loss LSU team that wins the SEC CG will certainly be in the title game.

OU/Mizzou would knock the loser out (if they both happened to be undefeated).

My only concern would be for Wisconsin to go undefeated however. The Little10 is an issue.

A huge game is Wisconsin vs Penn State on Oct 11. This is Wisconsin's only tough test the rest of the way. Penn State has about 4 tough games, so the likelihood they go undefeated are not good.

I know it's early but it's time to start pulling against Wisconsin.

    10/11 No. 12 Penn State 8:00 PM
    10/18 @ Iowa TBA
    10/25 No. 22 Illinois 12:00 PM
    11/01 @ Michigan State TBA
    11/08 @ Indiana TBA

And they're right. I think last nights game and how the college football seasons have played out over the last few years proves that until you're "out" you've got a chance. All the teams you've mentioned, including LSU (until knocked out of the race) have a legitimate shot.

Penn St could very well win out and win out impressively while us SEC teams beat up on each other and at year's end all of us have two losses or more, and you've got Penn St playing a Big 12 team in the championship. With USC losing we're about to start hearing A LOT MORE about Penn St.
