A classic example of the average persons standard of living in decline.

The politicians and other people with power and money don't have to live like we are going to have to live.
Al Gore, John McCain, Obama and the rich bastard who proclaimed he doesn't pay as much taxes as his secretary, whats his name.

The point being these people can own many houses, buy carbon credits and live the standard they are use or choose to while reducing the rest of the populations standard of living.
And some poor bastards are ok with this in the name of saving the planet.

Its all class warfare just like with this administration.
They are out take more money from Peter to pay Paul not to mention the ridiculous spending spree in DC.

Its about choice also including health care, there will be more poorer people with less choice under Obama's America.
There is less incentives to create business opportunities, jobs, etc by shutting down the coal industry and drilling if he follows through.
This doesn't include the Vat and other tax increases in the future meaning January 1st.

$260 this month for a 1300 sq ft house.

there are parts of hell with lower temperatures than we've had these past 2 weeks.

hate to break it to you sdm but standard of living for the US (and about every other country in the world) has been steadily increasing --just about forever.---and that IS adjusted for inflation.

but that is also OVERALL. many in the US get left behind because of the increasing stratification of our society.

Not to refute your information, but it doesn't include the past 3-4 yrs. I would be interested to see if it follows this same trend or does it show a similar decline as during the "Great Depression" era.

I don't know how accurate the huffington post is since it is a left wing site but I probably wouldn't dispute it anyway.
I think I would probably agree with it BUT what I am referring to are things happening TODAY and beyond not last year or the YEAR BEFORE.

I have talked CLEARLY about the future by referring to Obama's plans for cap and trade, carbon credits, rising energy costs because of Obama's energy polices, shutting down oil rigs.
I have also talked about green energy policies driving this in Colorado and around the country.
Switching from coal to natural gas this year for instance.

I clearly don't want the rich and powerful to have a standard of living above everyone else in the country.
This is clearly where we are headed with taxes increasing, Vat tax, etc because out of control spending in Washington DC as well as bad energy policies.
One could say we are already there with Al Gore, Bill Gates, John McCain and others having many houses and affording energy in everyone versus someone like us who may not afford to run our air conditioner in ONE house or apartment.
Food for thought, Maybe capitalism and socialism isn't that far apart after all?
    Maybe just no middle class?

we'll see. i think it usually takes a few years to get those #s. but it seems normal to get occassional dips in std of living. it never stays down long.

and its not huffingtonpost's chart. they got it from gapminder.org (not that i know about them)

Huffington post is a great news source. Arianna Huffington used to be a Republican and has supported many conservative views.
