Ex-St. Louis Cardinals slugger Jack Clark: Mark McGwire among 'creeps' of MLB - ESPN Andy Van Slyke chimed in similiarly. I don't think McGwire will be able to be part of baseball in any capacity as he was signed as hitting coach by the Cardinals. And rightfully so.
whats mcgwire gonna do as a hitting coach? show players how to most efficiently drop their drawers for an injection? :rolleye33:
To be fair, you don't hit nearly 700 home runs just on testosterone. He had the hand-eye coordination to make contact and drive the ball before he ever shot up.
imo, roids=no credibility. maybe he had good hand-eye coordination and would have been a good hitter. but would they have been more than just good hits - singles, doubles, and maybe the here and there triples and homers? he may have been a good hitter, but without the juice, (probably) not the power to hit the homers. i stand by my previous post. his roid use makes him lose all credibility with what he did as a hitter, and therefore, as a hitting coach. he may know the fundamentals, but his i personally would not want to take lessons from someone who cheated on the subject.
He must be pretty desperate then if McLiar is his solution for his team. Tony's getting senile IMHO, TTFWIW. :yelwink2:
Jack Clark does not agree with you. He said he did NOT have the hand eye coordination to be that great of a home run hitter naturally without help from steroids.
