Is talent calling the plays or making the decision to keep playing Jefferson, a quarterback that is horrible. Lee is the only hope for LSU. Instead of giving him reps....reps that he's more than earned, to get him ready for the meat of the SEC schedule, he keeps playing Jufferson and actually manages to make McNeese a tough opponent.
I cannot argue lee needs to play more and seeing jefferson at qb makes my head hurt. But maybe just maybe lee is better when he is not the only guy. Maybe the pressure not so intense is better for him. Lee is not even a marginal sec qb. Yes better than Jefferson but I am Better than Jefferson.
Hey this defense was probally better than the one we play next week. They gave up 43 points in 32 minutes; 5 yards per rush and 8 3/4 yards per pass - to the back up QB. He was good but he's not Mallett - he also threw two picks. I'm no more or less worried than I was this morning.
That's a good way to look at it, and I agree. Nothing has changed in my mind. We can beat Auburn, and I believe we WILL beat Bama. I hope I'm as happy on Nov. 6 as I am tonight. (I guess we all feel THAT way). :geaux:
LSU will play way down to much lesser opponents and up to better opponents every time. I don't ever expect to see this team blow anyone out ever again, they could make it a 3 point 4th quarter win against a high school team. But they also tend not to get blown out in losses They might only lose by a touchdown to an NFL team. The score predictions some guys made were laughable. I really think that there are some of these fans who've been watching every play of every game that I have and truly believed that LSU could/would score 50+ points. But then there's fans who believe that our coaches were playing it close to the vest to not show their hand to SEC opponents and "didn't blow them out on purpose." McNeese isn't a good FCS team this year like they usually are. But they brought their freshman QB, backup running backs and made a game of it for more than a half on our turf. They deserve a lot of credit. I hope our schizophrenic offense bing their A game next week because Auburn dropped 65 today on an SEC team that isn't terrible. Even if our D is playing well I hope the Tigers can score enough to overcome their offense. Geaux Tigers!
I'm sure Miles came into this game wanting to work on some things. But getting down early by 7 changed the approach. At that point the plan probably changed to shorten the game by controling the clock and get the victory with as much vanilla as possible and without injuries. I'm certain that's why we didn't see more runs by JJ or more roleouts or deep drops by JL. Keep in mind we only have 2 QB's that aren't great to be generous. A win is a win, and I'm happy to face Auburn at 7-0. Auburn will spend a lot of time overplanning for our O cause they don't know what to expect and a lot of time planning for the #1 D in the league. Our coaches on the other hand should be able to see everything that Auburn has to offer. In the last few games they've had to throw everything and the kitchen sink to win. Hopefully, that's the edge we need to get to 8-0 and a bye-week. Tonight's game to me showed that the guys just weren't emotionally up for this game. I didn't see #14 flying around with his hair on fire as usual. We just need to squeeze out one more when and get a much needed rest. Come on Tigers, one more!!!
What matters is how we play against Auburn. Not how we played tonight. Are you that miserable that winning by 22 points is somehow woefully inferior to winning by something like 35 or more? If we beat Auburn, you'll still find something to channel your inner little girl over.
I'm a little surprised. I expected the board to be in meltdown mode over that win, but I guess it is hard to validate a negative approach when we win by 22 and are 7-0. No matter how ugly it was. We will see what this team is really made of this weekend. AU's O will be the best we've faced, then again our D will be the best they've faced.
