tirk, that really is debatable. i remember games where it was rocking from beginning to end. i remember specifically in 1999 against San Jose State. LSU struggled and won. the crowd wasn't the best ever -- far from it -- but they stayed into the game, cheered and the atmosphere was pleasant. it doesn't compare with the energy of, say, florida 1997 or UGA 2003 or florida in 2005, but it was fun. plus tickets were cheaper/easier to get and you didn't feel like taking a gun to your head after spending upwards of $300 to watch LSU struggle and shoot itself in the foot in a tough loss. it's relative.
I thought you quit this board because you were so miserable being a LSU fan? I even read your farewell post announcing such.
Well, we haven't see all that much of you since you guaranteed us that Nick was going nowhere, chief.
sorry amigo, not all of us hangout on internet message boards all day long. regarding the saban issue. i was just repeating what he told his entire coaching staff the night before he took the miami job.
You get what you pay for. Would you rather pay $3 to see a bad movie or $8 to see a good movie. Higher ticket prices, TAF fees, parking fees, ect. are the price of success. I would much rather see LSU compete for SEC and National Championships than hope they get enough wins to go to the Music City Bowl or the Independence Bowl. I am old enough to vividly remember LSU football in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Compared to that we are experiencing the Golden Age of LSU Football. Why can't you just enjoy the fact that we are now one of the elite programs in the college football world. The state of Louisiana has the highest ratio of citizens who are players in the NFL. One out of every 55,862 native Louisianians earn their living in the National Football League. You complain about fans bitching now. You obviously were not around to see the "Help Mac Pack" or the "A U haul for Stovall" bumper stickers. When the level of expectations go up, so does the level of critizism. The more money you have to pay, the more you have the right to bitch when the entertainment value on the field doesn't live up to your expectations. Naturally, thus far this season I have been less than impressed by the quality of play on the field. I don't agree with the vanilla play calling and I am worried about the play so far of our offensive line. I would have liked to have seen Russell Shepard and Ruben Randall be more involved in the first 3 games. I don't know why the O line can't open gaping holes for Charles Scott to run through. If I was the coach I probably would have handled things differently, but I am not being paid $4 million a year to make those decisions. As a fan I have the right to post my misgivings on an internet forum or on a sports radio talk show. LSU will be 4-0 after Saturday's visit to Stark Vegas. The Tigers were 4-0 last year before things fell apart. I still have great expectations that things will be different this year starting with the road game at Georgia. Naturally I would rather see the O line blow open holes for Scott to run through and see Shepard truly utilized in a "Wild Tiger" offense against Moo U with a big lead than waiting to see if those plays will work in a game against Georgia when the score is tied late in the 4th quarter. By the way, I felt just as much like "taking a gun to my head" after paying $20 for tickets when Charlie Mac, Stovall, Archer, Hallman and Dinardo were the coaches. I felt like Arnsparger was capable of coaching the Tigers to a National Championship but he left after three years. The losses where I wanted to kill myself have been far fewer and farther between since Saban and Miles have been our coaches. Les Miles is known to be very paranoid about what he allows the media and other coaches to see. Is that the correct philosophy? I don't know. Bob Stoops' Oklahoma team averaged 65 points a game for the last 5 games of last season. Would Urban Meyer have been less able to figure out how to shut down the Okie;s offense if Stoops had playeded it more conservativly and only scored 30 a game? I don't know. If you don't want to pay more for quality entertainment you are free to stay home. Most of the games are on TV now
