I dont buy the injury excuse. Granted it didnt help, but the D looked like crap against teams it should have stifled. For instance Tulane was gouging the LSU D. Casey freakin Dick looked like a Heisman QB against LSU. With the talent LSU had the injuries should have been overcome mroe than they were.
Our running game was pretty freaking solid. Stafford throws pick against every other D but ours, so I ain't buying that one either. We changed our schemes due to injury. It wasn't because of the drop in talent, it was because of the change in philosophy. That same philosophy has carried over into this season, and we're still getting gouged because of it.
Totally agree! This is the same crappy defense that dipsh!t Pelini ran when he was here. Similar to what Lou Tepper ran as well. This soft zone crap has got to go.
Damn, as if it isn't bad enough some analyst just slammed us on the ESPN show before the Marshall - UH game. Said he was going to a Halloween party dressed as our defense in roller skates and with grass stains on his back. o:
I'm not one to cry wolf but at this point I think it would be better to finish out this year and then scrap this whole system. It just doesn't seem to work with out Pelini. We could be putting up better numbers if played a base defense than what we are now. The talent is there to be a national top 5 defense and we can't break the top ten in the SEC? Les should hire a new guy at the end of the season with an aggressive attacking defense.
