One thing that jumped out at me was that there seemed to be a problem getting a play in and he had to burn a TO. As he was walking off the field he was pissed and yelling. It was awesome! I hope he was chewing Cam and Les' ass for taking so long to get the play in. This kid is exactly what we need. I will try to find a clip of it and post it.
Looked like he had trouble getting his WRs to line up correctly and the clock ran down, if we're talking about the same play.
Sure he had a problem getting the plays in.......THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS UNDER MILES!!!!! Did you not notice it under Harris, Jennings, Mettlenberger, Jefferson when they were quarterbacks. Miles still cant get this right. His clock management skills as one of the HIGHEST PAID college coaches is PATHETIC. This was in play last night when we were on the 1 yard line late in the 4th quarter when he decided to throw the ball instead of running it to eat the clock.
I think this Team will take itself far because Etling has the football IQ and skill set to navigate and lead it. I saw a lot of improvement last night (in the midst of 2 very uncharacteristic fumbles) and I'm excited about what this 2016 team can do when they hit on all cylinders. When teams get more film on Etling and start game plannning for him, they will have to back out of the box. LF7 will do his thing. The QB/WR relationship can only get stronger and I think Chark is going to be special, Dupre is a much bigger threat in the slot and Dural is NFL caliber. Our defense is finding it's way under Aranda and we have game changing playmakers all over the field. Special talents rushing off the edge (Key and Neal) and now with Valentine a true cork stop in the middle. Tre White and Adams are ball hawks with Tolliver and Jackson holding islands. We do need growth from LB's but that will come......Meanwhile Thank God for Beckwith Geaux Tigers
The team shows a lot of promise with a legit QB, but there is more room for improvement than you would expect from a team with so many returning players. Other than White, the CB's have been very suspect. The OL has been far less cohesive or dominant than I expected and the front seven has been average overall. We're definitely not ready for November yet and I don't see the Bama game as being close at this point. However Etling has been a real breath of fresh air. Hopefully they continue to improve across the board.
Absolutely, they lacked direction and seemed to be sucked into the drama surrounding Brandon Harris and Les Miles. No doubt we are far from mid-season form, but I'm feeling a hell of lot better than I was 2 Sundays ago. There are still a lot of "ifs" All things considered we have a new DC so we're breaking in a system on that side of the ball and a lot of youth due to grow up on our defense this year. On the offensive side, still looking for chemistry on the O-Line and breaking in a new Quarterback. Not to mention waiting on LF7 to recover 100% from his injury. We have identified some issues, made some adjustments and now need to build off them and progress. If this team can continue to get better every week and play inspired LSU football as the year moves on (like we saw first half last night) we could be in for a fun season. A big game next weekend at Auburn is just what this team needs. Let's see them put it together for 4 full quarters, and we will see just how dangerous LSU is this year. LSU won't be the same team in November we saw Labor Day weekend. Bank it!
These are exactly my thoughts. The schedule sets up well for them to grow into the important games. But grow they must. On another note - Jimbo's buyout might be cheaper this year
We have all the pieces, just gotta make em work together. I've got hope, which is odd coming off another game were Les Miles almost lost at the end. Those who say it isn't Miles fault the players don't execute, y'all are precious and seemingly don't remember that execution has always been a problem under Miles.
