Problem is, this particular writer highlighted a problem that apparently no longer exists.

And I agree that ESPN and other outlets have a right to point out flaws. But they do not seem to be consistent. They are almost like Fox News. They have to have a point/counter point argument. Look at Mark May and Lou Holtz. They can NEVER be on the same side of anything. May thinks Miles' is in more trouble than Butch Davis. Ridiculous!! Davis/UNC = U$C trouble. LSU isn't in trouble yet. They're 1-0.

You must have noticed that more attention was given to LSU ALMOST losing to UNC than OU almost losing to Utah St, and UF fumbling 13 times. You must've noticed more attention was given to LSU ALMOST losing to UNC than Ole Miss LOSING to JACKSONVILLE ST!!!!!

LSU has problems. The way I see them after game one, LSU needs to learn to protect the ball. Also, LSU needs to shore up the defense, particularly the backfield and LBs. Guess what. Other teams have issues too. But LSUs are most certainly pointed out more frequently and more harshly than other teams by ESPN. I haven't heard ONE commentator harshly criticizing Urban Meyer or Stoops. These are also highly paid coaches. Houston Nutt wasn't criticized NEARLY as much as Miles...and his team LOST TO JACKSONVILLE ST!!!!!

    ?

The "we didn't blow them out on purpose" thing comes from a post by Cparso after we struggled to beat Washington. It became a TF joke, and it was recently resurrected by someone after the UNC win.

oh man, thank goodness. Nah, for some reason since the site has gone to its new format, it lags for me really bad, and last night i saw some thread about a twitter feed that said that, and i didn't have the patience to research it, i thought it was a farce, but then when i saw it in your sig it made me question.

Ours was one of the headlining games of the weekend, and the collapse we had to nearly lose the game was epic - it was also a needlessly last second affair, something Miles is becoming well known for and something that reflects poorly on LSU. This isn't the first time for Miles to choke or near choke, and I think ESPN is right to point it out.

For Miles to come out and defend the way we performed disgusts me. Our teams play sloppy under Miles, and why shouldn't they when he basically broadcasts to the world that he couldn't care less if we strive for excellence or not so long as we win. LSU was a well respected team, but under Miles we are a joke and will continue to be. I haven't seen consistent excellence out of LSU football in quite some time.

He said, "But after watching the Tigers nearly give that game away in the fourth quarter last weekend to a depleted North Carolina team, he better see to it that this team plays to its talent level the rest of the way, plays with more discipline – and most importantly – plays all four quarters."

Dude, the guy has a point(s). I may be wrong, but his mention of Shepard is in response to Miles saying he needed to get the ball more. I don't recall Shepard being involved too much in the second half.

I think between Holtz and May, the point of the show is point-counterpoint. They usually always seem to take opposing standpoints. When it comes to writers, I'm not so sure that is the case.

Fish, this could be a case of ubiquity. If you are into LSU, read about LSU, google LSU, look for LSU, everything will look like it is about LSU, even when it seems like you aren't looking for it.

Before the LSU game, I was hearing Florida being trashed, especially on ESPN/Fox radio. Shortly thereafter, I heard Ole Miss being trashed about their loss, but to be fair, no one cares about Ole Miss. They don't pose a threat to be national champs, and so seeing Nutt blow this game seems so... Nutt. It's bad, but no one cares about them.

Remember when App. State beat Michigan? We STILL hear about today, mostly because Michigan is a big deal, especially compared to Ole Miss.

Then, I heard about OU stuggling against Utah State.

Then, nearly everyone who modified their initial game predictions from a tight game to a convincing LSU win after the UNC defense was depleted by suspensions and being surrounded by distractions for the last couple of months saw LSU fulfill their predictions in the first half.... and then nearly choke it all away with :02 left on the clock.

It's no surprise that if Miles doesn't do something spectacular within the next 2 seasons, he's gone. Coaches on the hot seat at big schools are always going to be the bigger story, especially when they nearly lead a team to choke away a victory to a team that played a second team defense and a QB who hadn't thrown for more than 280 yards or 3 TDs since '07.

Keep in mind, too, that this game was on ABC as the headlining game of the day. The whole nation saw LSU fold like a lawn chair in the second half.

Oh, the actual twitter screenshot was a photoshop.
