:geaux: Just wonder how many times this has to be explained to folks before they understand? How much clearer does it get? :rolleye33: Chris Garret brought this on himself due to his lack of initiative, desire and laziness. This is all on Chris and he knows it. He's just bitter because his career is in the crapper due to his own actions/lack thereof and is paying the consequences for it. Chris needs to just man up and take responsibility for his actions, plain & simple. None of that falls on Les's shoulders. :LSU231:
Who cares about ESPN? There are several Big 10 vs. SEC matchups today yet they decide to travel out to the annual overrated chump bowl. Good parade DOES NOT equal good bowl! Oldest bowl DOES NOT equal good bowl!
The bottom line The bottom line to me is did Miles tell the kid face to face that he was being cut? If he did not do that then he screwed up... plan and simple. It comes down to integrity and values. A coach should tell a player face to face he is being cut, not send them form letter. If you know for a FACT that Miles told the kid face to fact then I retract my comment, but there is nothing in the OLT video that states Miles told him in the face to face meeting. Some people believe in integrity and some don't. If you do not think that Miles should have told the kid face to face that he was being cut then you have a different set of values and that is your prerogative. Like I said in my earlier post, I am a career military man and values mean something to me.:usaflagwa God Bless the USA!
who says he didnt tho? given that the story was one sided and somewhat skewed, do you really trust the story to tell anything that would be a positive on lsu or miles? and i dont see clm not sitting down and talking to a kid face to face. but you do both so you have your words/position documented in writing.
All we have to my knowledge is the video, and the only interview in it is the player. I would hope that Miles told him in person that he was being cut and not through a form letter. If the story is true as told in the video then I am disappointed in Miles....that is all.
All YOU have is the video...which is the topic of this thread. The problem is, the video is an interview of a lazy punk too weak to earn his way...something that you, as a military veteran, should understand is completely unacceptable to a 'team'. - So, you can choose to believe the lazy punk and ESPN, which has a proven track record of slander against LSU and Coach Miles, or you can be an LSU fan. Thanks for your service. I too was in the military. I was in boot camp when our DI told our house mouse to go to the latrine and scream "POP" at the top of his lungs. The mouse did it, and then the DI told us that noise was the mouse pulling his head out his arse. Do that.
My guess it that it was you in the latrine with your head up your a$$ and not a mouse. You want to call a college kid a lazy punk and question my loyalty as an LSU fan? My wife and I both went to LSU and my daughter starts there this summer. If you believe that it is ok for a head coach not to tell a player face to face that his scholarship is being cut then we have different values and expectations of integrity. Yes integrity..the steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. Take care and continue to enjoy the freedom of speech that we enjoy! :usaflagwa God Bless the USA!
I'm not sure, but I remember reading here on Tf that the usual procedure was giving out a letter that revokes the scholarship...but outlines what the athlete has to do to have the scholly restored. If the player does not live up to expectations then the letter remains in effect. I think that, at that point, Garrett requested a transfer. BHelm would know what happened with Garrett and what happens in general. I think Fishhead (and others) is frustrated by Garrett tinkling away a golden opportunity that most of us would die for. I do agree with your value system and thank you and every military person for their willingness to die for our values and freedom.:usaflagwa
Miles and the staff talked to him face to face on numerous occasions and told him that changes needed to happen for him to remain on scholarship. He wasn't surprised by the letter no matter what was said in the interview. He knew before the letter came and we talked to him after and Chris decided he wanted to transfer. The letter itself is just a formality and given to all players nationwide in the same circumstances.
