Agreed, let's try to move on. Let the team and new coach develop a new reputation. What's been surprising so far with many of the early college hoops coverage, is that most folks have the Tigers in the mix to potentially win the SEC West. Most folks have them around 2nd in the SEC west due to their experience. Imagine what may have been if Morgan had actually come and Randolph stayed another year? But, it is what it is. I think you can also say then that we wouldn't have signed Chris Bass and we still wouldn't have had a "true" point on our team. Of course, how real of a point he is still remains to be seen. Like Andy Katz, I wonder what LSU may look like this year, or years to come, with a real PG at the helm of a fairly talented team... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3622159&name=katz_andy That's the focus of this blog from Mr. Katz. I think early reports show that Bass might surprise and that "chemistry" might be the key to this year's success. It goes back to something that Brady couldn't always quite capture... how do you build the character and chemistry of a team beyond the recruiting for that team? Hard to say if Butch could have done that as well. We'll see how Trent's approach plays out on the court... CAN'T WAIT. :geauxtige LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A PART OF THE TRENT JOHNSON ERA. SEASON TICKETS ON SALE SOON.
I like Katz, but when previewing this team I dont see how you can not mention problems in the post. certainly point is always important, but with temple, spencer and incoming bass that is not the glaring hole in the team. when i look at the roster i wonder who is going to rebound and defend the post. i think we're stuck hoping for big improvements by thornton and green.
If Taz plays the whole season I think we'll be fine. We don't know a lot about what we'll get from Dennis Harris and Storm Warren just yet, but I'll let you guys know in November. :geauxtige
dont get me wrong, i agree with you. with backcourt experience and a wide open SECW, LSU will be fine (competitive in the west with a good shot at the ncaas). taz will be the only dependable post player. and he's limited by his size. if ctj gets the team to play smart and energetic ball they can be a good team, but looking at the roster i think the ceiling is low. it will be an interesting season. im guessing on offense they are always going to have to fight the tendency to do too much jump-shooting.
