    That is a great quote. Plus, "USC doesn't have the sort of remaining schedule that can set it upright again in the collective eyes of pollsters" is awesome.

    Seeing them lose the conference opener could possibly be better than seeing them lose to UCLA at the end of the year.

    USC can sneak back into the picture because the pundits will say that it is an early loss and they have time to redeem themselves.

    I wasn't convinced that Ohio State was very good at all, and now this confirms my perspective even more.

    USC started to believe that they were unbeatable because guys like Mark May told them so.

    The the score in the national championshp game, without Beanie Wells, would probably have been a shutout.

    Exactly.

    Remember, USC lost to Stanford last year, but by the end of the year they were touted as "the best team" because they were playing well at the end. If they would have somehow made it to the NC game, somehow I don't think we would have been hearing about how a 2 loss team made it, only how they climbed back in it.

    If you are going to lose in a subjective polling system, lose early!
