True. LSU fans aren't the best in the world, but I dare you to show me a more passionate group. That bodes well when we're winning. Not so great when we're not. That's sorta true. See Red's post above.
The stadium had three things going against it last night, all of which have been mentioned. 1) There is no denying that there are plenty who will leave if the weather is uncomfortable (hot, cold, or wet). 2) There is also no denying that there are also plenty who will leave at halftime if the game is ugly enough. That first half was the worst I've ever sat through. 3) Mentioned earlier, these out of conference games are used by many (including me) as a game where we can bring our kids knowing going in that there is near zero chance we make it until the end of the game. This one got me last night. If not for my 3 year old in attendance with me (just me and her), I would have stayed. It made me sick to leave b/c of that glimmer of hope that I would miss a potential comeback. All 3 of these combined set Tiger Stadium up for its worst 2nd half attendance in recent history. I also agree with the poster that said even at 1/3 full Tiger Stadium is just as loud as most other stadiums. The fans that stayed have a good story to tell for quite some time. Mark
Instead of ESPN bashing our fans how about them bash both Bob Stoops and Urban Meyer for throwing passes in the fourth quarter with their starting quarterbacks with 5 touchdown leads
Cold, lol. Some of you guys would NOT last in Minnesota for a minute. But, all jokes aside, I think it was piss poor that people were STILL "booing" the team. I understand that a lot of people had to leave because they had little kids and/or wives and they couldn't handle a little wind. I've been in the deer stand with stronger wind and cooler temperatures and with not even seeing a single deer. Hell, watching LSU lose in a similar environment would at least be better than that. But "booing" the team when you know that they're down and out and only playing for pride is a pretty low thing to do. I know most people aren't as die hard as some of us here are, but if I were lucky enough to have been in the stadium I would probably be without a voice for a month. Yes, I feel my Tigers are worth that and MORE. :geaux: IMO, YMMV, etc. etc. etc.
1) The ones who left early I can only hope they had the excuse that they had the kids/wife/GF with them moaning and groaning. My kids actually toughed it out pretty well. 2) Did you see the group of 14-15 students without shirts from the end of the 3rd on? Cold schmold. 3) I warned my kids all day Friday to dress warm. We brought blankets and I had two pair of long johns on as well as an undershirt, turtleneck, polo shirt and a heavy work jacket. I actually didn't put the jacket on until the 4th quarter when the temp felt like it hit 40 with the 15-20MPH wind.
friggin cold is an understatement, and i was dressed like i would have been for a cold game up here. but i was still shivering! turtleneck, hooded sweatshirt, heavy l.l. bean barn coat, cap, scarves, gloves, heavy tights and wool socks under my jeans. and froze my ass off! for this week, even tho its a day game, i have added long johns and another heavy tshirt for another couple of layers. cold is one thing, but the wind was unforgiving! but i agree, booing the team and specific players is just unacceptable. edit: to those that stayed warm or are poo-pooing that some of us were cold, good for you if you dont get cold easily. some people do. i sat there and was miserable. if others were underdressed, i dont blame them for leaving.
