Let's see, LSU was plastered in the news for a top 5 football recruiting class, and they will dominate the news in baseball being ranked #1 in several polls. Since there is a tournament, I would think flying under the radar as long as possible actually helps them in baskerball. Not many coaches think that his players benefit from seeing their name in the top25 rankings. It is just something else that he has wash from their heads. I personally would always enjoy LSU ranked in any sport, but maybe the national media is "tired" of giving props to the Bayou Bengals in recent memory. Let's get past Florida and Kentucky, then maybe we can beat our chest a little.
I kind of like flying under the radar in the off season. Both the 2003 and 2007 teams were under-appreciated and over-achieving.
the problem with "flying under the radar" is that it can cause you to be a 10 seed playing Gonzaga instead of a 6 seed playing VaTech. my fear is that they will look at LSU's resume and see a loss to a bubble TxAM, a very bad loss to an average Utah, and a 10 pt home loss to an not as good as you think Xavier (theyve lost 2 recently). the only SEC games that will have value are the bad losses (Bama, hopefully no more). lets say LSU loses two more and wins only one or two in the tourney. then they get a lower seed which is kinda like a self-fulfilling prophecy. the lower seed makes LSU play a better team so when LSU loses the committee can say "see i told you so" this is all doom and gloom stuff. i dont think it will happen to this degree, but it is the danger of not getting pub.
Exactly. I'd like to stay away from the 1's and 2's for as long as possible. A confident team coming off a couple tourny wins stands a better chance, methinks.
You and I must have been watching two different games if you think Xavier won "handily." I don't call hanging on to a 3-5 point lead and LSU intentionally fouling at the end winning handily.
he's been saying that for months, but no one wants to listen. randolph might still be here too, and the team would be even better than it is now.
