I don't know if I'd consider a team hovering just around the same ranking as LSU a marquee win, and that happened back in November. For the record, I couldn't care less about a Top 25 ranking. Continuing to win will take care of that in time. What does concern me quite a bit is the reasoning going into the brackets right now, which does not favor LSU at the moment. That will also improve with more W's, and things may be different after this week, but I'm not counting on it. Can't overlook Ole Miss this weekend by any means, especially banged up and after a huge road win.
I was watching sportscenter last night and there was no highlights of the game which is ok. However, LSU was not even in the scoreboard list at the bottom but there were other unranked teams there.
They may not be "giving" LSU any love, but that is the good thing about college Basketball... There is a tournament and you can "earn" all the love you deserve. Let our guys keep busting their ass and learning how to win. Come tournament time they will get what they deserve. Look at our baseball team last year.
I know it's completely unreasonable but I get so frustrated when LSU fans freak out about not being mentioned on tv or on the front page of websites. My dad's the worst about that... if he turns on college gameday and LSU isn't mentioned in the first 15 minutes that he's watching, he freaks out. Another famous one is when they're talking about USC or Oklahoma and say they're one of the best teams in the country he'll surely make a comment... something like this: Herbstreit: "and this ohio state team proves to be one of the country's best" Desmond: " Don't forget Michigan, I went to school there n won a heisman" Corso: "Hey! Not so fast, Herbstreit played for the buckeyes" Desmond: "I won a hesiman" Fowler: "Desmond is our Heisman winner, later he'll preview the heisman race" Herbstreit: "These two teams are definitely the best in the Big 10" Fowler: "But the big 10's been down lately, how would they fair vs the sec" Herbstreit: "Ohio state's talent is as good as anyone in the country" Desmond: " I won a heisman at Michigan" corso: "Desmond won a heisman at Michigan" Fowler: ummmmmmmmmmmmmm Desmond is now doing the heisman pose for no reason, Corso is wearing the buckeyes head, herbstreit is grinning like an idiot. Fowler: "But how would they fare against USC?" My dad: "See, they don't even mention LSU, ever, it's all about USC all the time! I'm so sick of LSU getting no respect when they win games in a real conference. The sec is so much better than the big 10 or pac 10, they shouldn't even be allowed in the national championship game. Who have they played? Seriously, who? Michigan state? Cal? Washington? Gimme a break! Let them play florida, georgia, alabama, blablabblah every week and see if they win 11 games!" me: "did you know desmond won a heisman at michigan"
On busy game nights, they'll stagger the unranked teams and show them every other scroll. There's no plot. We're flying under the radar and that's not a bad thing. To those that think it matters, what did UNC-Greenville do last night? See my point?
exactly... let them feel disrespected a little while... people outside the state of Louisiana have no idea what this team's capable of. They lost their chances to have a big time win, and that's fine. It was early, and they're improving every hour. The coach is a pro and he'll get them straightened out. You think he's not using the fact that you have to tune into UPN to even see the team as a motivator? LSU will keep improving and if they get hot going into and during the SEC tournament, espn will be all over them as their "sleeper pick" and we'll be talking about how much love they're getting... The program hasn't earned the spotlight yet. Had they beaten xavier, maybe, but up to now you have to agree that they're just winning games they're supposed to :bball:
Yes, i hate when them bastards at ESPN throw over $2 Billion at the SEC. Surely they must HATE LSU and every other team in the SEC. :rolleye33::rolleye33:
