I mean WOW! LSU is 20-4 and on top of the SEC, with players scoring in the 30's. Has Tasmin drop 41 points last night in a double OT game. And yet, still nothing wrote about LSU anywhere. ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS! the top 15 stories on SI college basketball where about UNC-DUKE, Baylor, and the UCON's Girls Basketball team....This is by far the worst treatment of the SEC as a Men's College Basketball conference. Straight BULL****!
Well take back SportingNews.com they have a story on LSU...But ESPN really hatin on us BigTime.

Well, the big issue, as has been the case all season, is that they have no quality, marquee victories. They had their chance to beat Texas A&M and Utah, but didn't.

They're the highest ranked SEC team, a conference that is down this year, as has been well-noted. Don't underestimate the lack of exposure as a factor: They have not had many opportunities to play on national television.

In short: they haven't really proved anything yet.

That being said, I do believe they're on the right track. As I said above, they ARE the best team in the SEC. They are the oldest SEC team and that leadership is invaluable. They are a good team, yes, but they need that big win. If they continue to run the table in the SEC, they're going to get their just due, don't worry (hell, they'll more-than-likely be ranked after this week -- finally!).

Besides, all of this will be a moot point come March. :thumb:

I am not sure what exactly you are waiting for.

Last night's win was HUGE and on the road against a good team.

No, no... I'm with you! I'm not trying to be a detractor or a critic... I'm just saying they haven't beaten any quality opponents (at least in the eyes of every college basketball fan that isn't from LSU), or that seems to be the main knock against them. Tennessee is down, and that might be the marquee win (from a reputational standpoint) to date. I'm not trying to take away from the magnitude of last night's win, hell I was hanging on the edge of my seat for the entire game, but as well as Mississippi State played LSU (and the implication of going up at least two games over the entire SEC), it is just Mississippi State.

I agree that the team deserves more respect than they are getting, but I believe that it's just not happening because they haven't had a sexy win (at least in the national perspective).

Quick, who can tell me what Florida's marquee wins are this season? The closest they've come is losses to Syracuse and Florida State. They're 6-3 and LSU is 8-1 in SEC play. Yet they're projected to be seeded 3 spots ahead of us in the tournament. And today there's this (need an Insider subscription):
    http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/insi...espn.go.com/ncb/insider/news/story?id=3895109

Tennessee hasn't beaten a Top 25 team since mid-December, and one of those "marquee" victories was to a team that's lost 6 of their last 7 and currently sitting at 11th in the Big East. LSU has beaten Tennessee on the road. Tennessee is also projected to be seeded three spots ahead of us in the tournament.

Sorry, but there's clearly something else at play, whether it's too much stock in LSU's RPI, anti-SEC bias, whatever, I don't know. But with the conference resume LSU has that should draw at least some media buzz.

LSU is in solid command of the SEC at 8-1 and the team has improved their play tremendously. What more do they have to do to "prove anything"?

ESPN won't highlight a game between 2 unranked opponents, especially if the game wasn't broadcast via an ESPN network.

I'm looking at ESPN's Men's NCAA BB home page:
    http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/

    The headlines feature:
    #1 UConn beating #23 Syracuse
    #2 Oklahoma beating unranked Baylor
    #3 UNC beating #6 Duke
unranked NC State upsetting #7 Wake Forest
    #8 Memphis beating unranked Tulsa
    unranked Dayton upsetting #14 Xavier
#23 Purdue beating unranked Penn State

Gee, that's surprising, ESPN gives front-page coverage to each and every one of the seven Top 25 teams that played yesterday.

Sure, there is nothing about unranked LSU beating unranked MSU. So what? There is also nothing about the other 48 unranked men's NCAA bb teams that played each other yesterday. Boo hoo.

If we beat Ole Miss on Saturday (Valentine's Day), we will be ranked in the Top 25, and you will see us on the ESPN men's NCAA bb front page.

I'm not bothered by ESPN's lack of front-page coverage to teams not ranked in the Top 25. What does upset me is how the Tenn (5-3) vs Georgia (0-8) game made it on broadcast TV last night, while the LSU (7-1) vs MSU (6-2) game didn't.
