    My List:

    1.Les Miles
    2.Tommy Tuberville
    3.Urban Meyer
    4.Mark Richt
    5.Steve Spurrier
    6.Nick Saban
    7.Bobby Petrino
    8.Houston Nutt
    9.Phillip Fulmer
    10.Sylvester Croom
    11.Rich Brooks
    12.Bobby Johnson

I'm not a Tubberville fan to say the least, but I have to give him his props.

Tygrr, our lists are eerily similiar. Just switch out Tubbs and Spurrier and we have nearly the same list. At one time I would have had Spurrier much higher, but he has lost what made him great.

It's hard to rank Spurrier, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Ten years of absolute dominance has to mean something.

My list is very similar to islstl's. I had Miles and Tuberville #'s 1 and 2. I had Fulmer higher than Nutt, out of sheer respect for his national championship.

To me, a lot of how much respect a coach gets depends on the school he's at.

Does anyone think Spurrier's record for the last three years would be the same if he were still at Fla?

I'd be willing to bet we wouldn't have this conversation about Miles, Saban, Meyer, if they were the HC at Miss St or Vandy.

I heard a rumor that Saban had his agent put out that he wanted to come back into college, but only if it were at a certain few schools. You can bet, he wouldn't have bolted the Dolphins if Ole Miss would have came calling, not even for 7 mill a year.

You gotta be able to coach, but you gotta have the facilites and recruiting base too.

Can't make chicken salad out of, well you know.

I would definitely say that if anyone isn't getting enough respect, its Croom. He has brought State back from a long walk into the forest. With the small amount of talent that he had to work with, he is steady building. State will continue to be patient with him. He is a solid coach, and given an opportunity with better talent and recruiting pipeline, he would be doing better.

I am not putting him up there in the top 3 or 4, but he doesn't belong in the bottom three.

Nothing against Croom, but he is getting more than enough respect for going 8-5 in 1 season. The media have gone out of thir way to talk him up. I think he's a decent coach, but still 17-30 winning just 36% of his games. If he can go 8-5 again or better, then I think the praise is well deserved. If that happens, I think Mr. Croom will be leaving Starkville for greener pastures.
