To be fair, Schnellenberger finished his career on a high note, in my opinion. He built that FAU program from scratch. A lot of people seem to judge him strictly on OU when he did a good job at Miami and Louisville. As far as a coach goes, that's pretty good company to be compared with, don't ya think?
Sure it is, if someone would have taken the bottle away from him who knows And decades ago, had your parents known what a buffoon you would become you would have ended up on the curtains
Alright for his level? As in the head coach of the team that won the B1G title last season? He won't be winning any championships there but he just did. Hell, Franklin had Vandy ranked in the top 25 his last two seasons. VANDY! You may be right on Ohio State. I've not looked at them in any detail. Michigan? They are returning the fewest starters in the NCAA for '17. There are less than 10 teams in the NCAA that return more starters than PSU in '17--and they have Michigan at home. Your comments here about Archer make no sense to me. There's no comparison between the two coaches, the two teams they inherited, and more specifically you have one coach digress while the other has shown improvement in each of his three years. All I can say about the rest of your post? WTF does it have to do with Penn State?
At OU? Who knows is right. That program, like a lot of the "blue-bloods" of college football, takes a certain type of person to lead. By all accounts he "straightened out" before his last gig. I'm not of the opinion you can take his short stint at OU and define his career.
Honestly, don't know much about him even with his stint at OU. I know I've heard Switzer tell lots of stories about him and they are funny. Sounds like a guy I'd like to hang out with.
Worth the time to read about, IMO. He had a book published four years ago or so that was a decent read.
You're asking if he won a B1G championship? Uh, yeah. For the life of me I think you throw shit at the wall with the hope some of it sticks. Urban, five years with Ohio State and he's won one B1G title. Franklin, three years with Penn State and he's won one B1G title (after taking over a team killed by the NCAA.) I'm not saying he's at Urban's level. I am saying he's done a good job at Penn State. You threw yourself in a hole when you pulled the 14-11 conference record, then tried with @Bengal B about how much he knew/didn't know about PSU--when clearly, you're the one uninformed. And your saying what about Dinardo in respect to Franklin? Dinardo never had a winning season at Vandy. In his first season at Vandy Franklin had them in a bowl game. All three years he had the 'Dores there. Vandy, a school that's been to a bowl game eight times in their history--a history that has more than 100 years of football--and he has almost half of them. Again, what the hell does Archer have to do with the job Franklin has done at Vandy, or at Penn State? And again, what the hell does this have to do with Bama, Miles, Orge... Fixated, or actually knowing what the hell I'm talking about? You're calling a loss to Michigan. I say, hold on. Michigan losses a lot, Penn State returns a lot, and that doesn't make a difference? If you don't think the NCAA over-handed sanctions were tough on Penn State I don't know what to say. Fact: Franklin inherited a horrible situation in terms of depth and he was recruiting, under sanctions, when he started. Right now, comparing what Urban has done with OSU and what Franklin had done with PSU Franklin's had a tougher job--a job done well..
