Florida will win the East not so much because they are that great but because Kirby Smart is in over his head and Georgia will underachieve while the Gators overachieve. I've been in Tennessee in November before and the weather was beautiful. Could wear shorts and a T shirt in the daytime and just needed a light sweater or windbreaker at night.
I think this pretty well sums up my opinion on Kirby as a head coach. A quick search here reveals ... and you'll find the same on my forum. A close second was Kirby Faust. I saw some coaching decisions last year that certainly reminded me of ol' Gerry.
We do not have to do anything to get over-hyped in the rankings. We lost four games last year (three the year before). I believe they ranked us number 5 at the start of the season last year (hilarious!) Remember Harris was going to be much improved. Three of our players will probably go in the first round of the draft. We have a very mediocre QB, an Oline that is missing two starters from last year. Who is going to drink the Kool-aid this year? and realistically think we are going to only lose one game. It is just ESPN way of loading up, so they can talk about how LSU is not living up to their unrealistic expectations.
Better ESPN likes to build us up because they carry almost all our freaking games. The more hype the better the ratings. And we have a shit load of talent. That never hurts.
Talent is subjective. We have had very good, and even awesome talent at certain positions. We have not had the talent like others, at QB. We have not had the Dlines of the past. They opened the doors, for how many turnovers. When is the last time we had the turnover margin? We are not getting the 5 and 4 star talent that bama gets. I am one that does not look at little nicky, as all that. I believe the boosters at alabama will do anything necessary to win. little nicky could not even keep up with the record of the mad hatter at LSU. Awesome talent across the board does not lose!
