"Woodley went to LSU, dazzled with his strong arm and quick feet and led the Tigers to a Tangerine Bowl victory. But he ultimately shared time with Steve Ensminger, a local kid from Baton Rouge. Woodley was booed; Ensminger was loved. Woodley never forgot how the crowds hurt him. " We've had many threads on here about booing the players on the field. I thought this was rather poignant.
Wow, that is a truly sad story. Being an older fart I knew of Woodly and saw him play in Tiger Stadium. Never would imagine a guy with so much going far him would have it turn so bad.
I saw a special about him several years ago describing all of this. Can't remember if it was ESPN or another network. Quite sad.
Man that is a sad story. I had no idea Woodley was booed in Tiger Stadium. Don't seam to recall that.
I remember the lovefest with Ensminger quite well. I remember myself wondering why we were playing Woodley when we should have been exclusively playing Ensminger. We were definitely smitten with him.
Pitiful story...sad end to a great Tiger. I remember going to some of the games when he played but don't really recall a lot of details. I'm sure folks tried to help him, but some folks just won't accept it...very sad indeed. "All glory is fleeting"
