Gallipo is the recruit that I'm most envious of and would love to have on our team.....he is special and he's going to be huge in terms of contributions. Many here don't watch much Pac10 football but USC's defense will be sick next year.
Yeah but, don't forget USC held Ark. to 14 points- it was early in the season and all but still noteworthy and in their stadium. :thumb:
As I stated im my post I have no problem with USC's class being rated #1 it is one hell of a recruiting class to say the least. What I dislike is ESPN going out of their way to twist the facts even more in USC's favor just to give them a little man on man love. Name one reputable service that doesn't have clausen rated in their top 2. ESPN moved him out of the top 3 just to create a pro USC story with no merit.
Not trying to lobby for USC, just trying to be rational. LSU held Arizona to 3 points and so did USC- on the road. Let's not make it to the NC game and underestimate them by not recognizing they can play defense- just like many believed they wouldn't get McKnight. NEVER underestimate your opponent! ie. Ole Miss, UAB, and especially a top tier one. :thumb: Many here would never make coaches cause they don't really break a team down for what they're really worth and just right 'em off cause they don't like them.
Well, I gave you some solid reasons why Clausen may have dropped in the rankings. I'd like to see some of the folks who do the ratings speak up and sound convinced that Jimmy is still the #1 or #2 guy. California football experts (don't laugh now) aren't even convinced he's the best QB in the state at this point. Aaron Corp out of Orange Lutheran came on strong, won his state playoff with poise and confidence, and is considered to have better long term success. I'm tellin' ya, Gallipo, Griffin, and Tyler are all better players, not only at their position, but on the field. Everson Griffen out of Arizona is 6-5, weighs 265, and runs a 4.55 40! They don't call him The Freak for nothing. Again, it matters little until it translates to wins and right now there are a dozen teams with potential to win it all next year.
Believe me. The rest of the Pac10 still hasn't forgiven kal for their pathetic debacle in TN last season. Their board got so many hits, they had to shut it down. I'd venture to say that SC would welcome more visits to the Coliseum by SEC schools. Home and aways are difficult to reach agreement on. Auburn and Arkie made the venture. I think we tried to work at getting Georgia to replace Idaho for our opener in September but couldn't get it done.
That's just it HE DIDN"T DROP IN THE RANKINGS only ESPN had him out of the top two not any legitimate ranking services.
Okay, so ESPN dropped him. I don't know enough on the topic to be able to compare ESPN's service with any of the "legit" services so you'll have to enlighten me on that. My point is, I can make a very clear argument as to why JC doesn't belong in the top 3 recruits nationally. After the Cali state playoffs and the AAA game he may not be in the top 3 in CA! Let's say ESPN had him at #1 and SC had dropped to #3 or #4 overall. How would that change anything? It's a ranking of recruiting classes, not a predictor of NC's.
