ESPN's attempt to shield what little credibility Herbie has left has now gone from crazy, out-of-control spin to outright libel. This is a new low, even for them. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/071204&sportCat=ncf
Somebody has to set the bar. Even when you know you are scum, there are ways to find a lower place to be! Now that they have done it, others will be certain to follow suit. :tigereye:
Hell hath no fury like a woman from ESPN scorned. Funny how the media is suddenly getting pissy now that the populace and the targets of their attention are calling them out on their foolishness. What's truth and accuracy got to do with it anyway? Essentially, the premise this woman is advancing is that if we think you should lie, you did, and we will report it. As far as we're concerned, you're guilty until proven innocent. I love watching the media squirm and do damage control, and when that fails, try and make Miles look like the villain. What a bunch of poor, insecure retards.
Jemele Hill is terrible. Here's how astute she is: When the Detroit Lions were 6-2, she said the ultra-religious Jon Kitna was "God's quarterback" and claimed Jesus's powers were making the Lions winners. The Lions proceeded to lose four straight and now stand at 6-6. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/071107&sportCat=nfl
I've never done it before, but that _itch is receiving an e-mail from me. How can one call themselves a journalist and write that sort of, as PodKatt wrote, libel?
Here is mine: In regards to your "Coaching Carousel" column, I am very disappointed that you chose to call the coach of MY alma mater a liar (I would also take exception with the "mediocre coach" bit, but at least that opinion is not libelous.) Les Miles has proven to be a man of integrity more times than not in Baton Rouge, and his team loves him. By all accounts, he loves his team, and I feel he made a decision for his team, if not for himself. LSU fans are also jaded by the likes of "Slick" Nick Saban, but we are happy with our current coach. We are happy with our program, and we are happy he says he is staying. If after January 7, he decides to talk to Michigan after all, I believe that LSU fans could, at least, know that what he did saved our season and the dream of our wonderful class of seniors. I feel we could live with that, especially since most of the fans I talk to on an LSU message board didn't fault Coach Miles for possibly following his heart to his alma mater. Your act of calling Coach Miles a liar was inexcusable, and I feel Coach Miles and LSU deserve an apology. I am a part-time columnist for The Dallas Morning News, and although I realize that columnists have much leeway in what we write, name calling should not be part of our MO.
According to all parties involved, this is a dead horse. Miles is staying at LSU. ESPN needs to "let it rest"! :geaux: :crystal:
They won't because they screwed up and have to try to spin it. You know when a cat craps in a litter box it covers it up. ESPN needs to take notes from the cat. FEAR THE HAT!!!
That's interesting. Just wondering, to the posts I've read about defending Miles for not being a "Liar"- should that happen and he had a "Change of heart", would him saying he will be the coach at LSU next year be untruthful and, in fact, make him a "Liar"? btw, she can't be sued, well, anyone can file a suit but it wouldn't walk cause she'd probably fall back on the Okie St. thingy to validate her statement. We can say circumstances precipatated it but an "Untruth" is an untruth, no matter how you slice it.
