If this is true, then why just tell the select few? What reason would he possibly have for not coming out and telling everyone so that he could put all the rumors to rest? It makes no sense to only tell the people that you named if he is staying. Now, if he were leaving, it would make sense.
The ticker on Gameday says that Miles will be NAMED as the HC next week. to me that says that The offer has already been presented and accepted per ESPN
With all due respect, this is not a matter of rumor. It is well known fact - not rumor - that Lloyd negotiated 2 year contracts for his assistants last January. My disagreement with the prior post is not that the deal may have been done earlier - I think it was - but that the reason, as cited, was to somehow favor the U-M assistants. That's not accurate - the assistants had been taken care of. The early negotiation was for Miles only - nothing to do with assistants one way or the other. I respect that it's the nature of forums to jump on the guy who says he has inside information - but there are some of us, who do. I grew up in Ann Arbor, know a lot of people personally and professionally whom are within the university system or are intimately familiar with people who are (as am I). I have maintained those contacts, make inquiry with them, etc. For instance, I knew that news of Ferentz's alleged offer was baloney. If you visited the Michigan site this last week and a half - you will repeatedly see me posting that Ferentz was not going to be our coach. This was more than a stab in the dark - I knew because of what I had been told by someone who was very familiar with what was going on. So, flame away, doubt away - it really doesn't matter - not one thing that I have posted was later shown as inaccurate or untrue. Again, I repeat that I truly regret that this was announced this morning. Not very classy at all, if Michigan had any part with that. I don't think they did, but . . .
I'll catch some heat for this but, if Les admits to Skip that there's a deal with Michigan then Les should step away and not coach the game today.
Is it true that Desmond Howard is on the search committee? I think it's pretty clear where ESPN got the info ... from a Michigan alum and ESPN employee.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I never came close to falling in love with LSU Coach Saban (2000-2004), but I really, really thought that Les Miles was our guy -- even before he coached his first game here -- and he hasn't disappointed me. You guys are lucky to get him. Looking back, it never occurred to me that the Michigan job would open up any time in the next 6 or 7 years (I didn't realize how old Carr was), and I thought Miles would be here until he retired. And even though there has been a lot of talk about Miles replacing Carr since the beginning of this season, and even as it became more and more obvious, I guess I just kept denying the reality of it all. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I guess I was hoping that LSU would pound Tennessee, and after the game, Miles would announce on national TV that he has fallen in love with LSU, the greatest program on earth, and that although he'd always wanted to be the Michigan head coach, he has decided to stay here for the rest of his coaching career. But yeah, I can't blame him for going to Michigan. That's his home, that's his family. And Michigan has a hell of a football program, it's always been my favorite program in the Big Ten. Again, thanks for saying that you guys in Wolverine Nation will be quietly rooting for the Tigers in years to come -- but I'd like to ask a bigger favor than that: I want Michigan and LSU to start playing each other. I want Michigan to come down here to Tiger Stadium, and I want LSU to beat them down like they were a bunch of little girls. Then I want to see LSU go up to the Big House and pound them in front of their own fans. And I want this to continue over and over and over. No offense or anything. I'll be cheering for Les Miles' Michigan team to go undefeated in all their other games! :usaflagwa:laflagwavLSU!
Attorney, I do not have a problem with your inside info. In fact, I appreciate you coming and providing some insight. Not sure Michigan leaked the news. From people on this board that claim to know players, trainers, etc... Miles supposedly told or insinuated that this would be their last game together. After his debacle leaving OS I can see where he was honest with his players. In fact, Miles's comments changed late this week to say he has had "no direct contact" with Michigan. What can you tell us about Ron English?
