Very true. They would want to know who they'll be working for. They don't even have "Power" in Mamou. :hihi:
Not accurate in one respect - the deal, if done, was not done early because of concern about assistants. Lloyd Carr/Bill Martin took care of the assistants last January - 2 year contracts, which is almost unheard of, unless you're an OC or DC. So irrespective of whether Lloyd stayed or went, the assistants were under contract and would be paid no matter what. This gave them a year to look for a new job, so there was no impetus to get a deal done mid-season to preserve anything for U-M assistants.

OK... so here we have two very knowledgeable people who do not even agree on something so basic as to when this "deal" went down. But, we do know that they know because they have information known to only 50 or 75 people all of whom are keeping it secret except for telling their closest fifty or 75 closest friends. Is it possible that everybody is taking rumors from unnamed and unknown sources as the truth... even when different "truths" are being offered?
First of all, I really do not believe that this is as DONE as many of you seem to think. As a point of fact, ESPN did not report that Miles will be named MI coach, but rather than MI will offer him the job. There is a big difference and we have known for weeks that he will be offered the job. No suprise there. Secondly, he has told recruits within the last week that he is not leaving, has no intention to leave, and that while he is flattered by MI coming after him he is not going anywhere. Thirdly, he has told his assistant coaches in a recent coaches meeting that he does not intend to take the job if offered it. Now, all of that may be complete BS, but I DO like to think that CLM has a bit more honestly and integrity than most other coaches in the game and that if he flat out states something to those he works with that he is telling the truth. Maybe I am in denial or just losing my mind here. I really don't think that this is as done as it seems. On another note: If it IS a done deal and someone from MI let it out, there should be penalties from the NCAA on this sort of thing. No team, booster, agent, lawyer, etc should be able to contact a coach or any of their representatives PRIOR to the end of the season. There is too much at stake for these kids and all of the hard work that they have put in. IF the NCAA is out to protect the integrity of the game and these student atheletes like they claim they are, it is time to step up and do something about these types of situations. They have all sorts of rules about teams contacting recruits, parents, etc but none about contacting coaches who already have a job. It is pathetic, archaic, and it needs to change.
