I'm not trying to be nit-picky, but you're quick to jump all over Miles these days, and you're suggesting that Charlie Mac didn't earn his keep, either. Fans, with a similar mindset as you appear to have, were all over Mac for years. I was born in 1970, and all I ever heard, as a young child, was how much Mac sucked. Keep in mind, also, that as much as we complain about the BCS, it has opened the doors to more championships for the SEC. Alabama was basically the only SEC team winning them for a very long time because they were all poll-oriented. Also, the 10-win season gets people a little too excited these days, as fewer games were played back then. LSU had talent when he was there, but just like now, it was no better or worse than many other programs. LSU fans always seem to believe that no one else puts talented teams on a football field.
Wonder if we'll ever know the full story. Gonna be tough for Chizik to walk into this situation. At least the fan base will give him a very short rope I'm sure. There won't be a honeymoon here.
Sorry, but promoting a two-headed monster, BSing to the fans and media at press conferences after losses, and going 7-5 will do that. I like him, but he has deserved his criticism this year. Well, in his last 9 seasons, he played in 12 games each year (except for '74, 5-5-1, & '75, 5-6), and lost at least 3 games every year. No, I understand LSU isn't some NFL team, but you never referenced my points about 17 years with one SEC championship and no national championship. Even if the polls decided the NC, losing at least 3 games a year for 9 straight years won't help. Dietzel took a below average LSU team and made them into National Champions in his 4th year. Cholly took over after him, and in 17 years won only one SEC championship. Again, I mean no disrespect to him, but I think one conference championship in 17 years would bother any program and their fans.
None of those were Bryant years. It was 1953 not 1954 that Coach Red Drew lost to Rice. 1955 was when the J.B. "Ears" Whitworth error began, he also lost to Rice in 1956 he lost to just about everyone the three years he was at Alabama accumulating a 4-24-2 record and a pink slip. Coach Bryant came in 1958.
Oh I haven't forgot. Niether have I forgot the last seven years. i will take 6 out of 7 forever. Funny, I notice none of you bammies posting have contributed to this board. Ever thought about giving up the freeload smack?:yelwink2:
Enjoy it while you can...That's the last little streak your cow college will have for a long time. Soon the whole "Auburn Family" will be puppets for Lowder, Spina, Rane, Dye and the rest of the good 'ol boys down there on the plains. It's already shaping up quite nicely beginning with this wonderful hire. It's great to be an Auburn Tiger, huh PT? :hihi:
