yes but no one knows about it. Much different with an outsider who is the HC.

    .

if all things are relatively equal, then they probably do. likely carries even more weight in hoops since its clearly a black man's game.

you can find exceptions in every sport. ty willingham was never a good coach and croom is an average HC at best.

thats a reach. its more likely he wasnt a fit because auburn isnt hiring a black coach in that position due to the powers that be.

solely? then you screwed yourself if you were in charge. he can hire people that fill that same role. orgeron is available.

you want a one-year wonder with a revolving door or a stable football program with solid success like tubby provided?

i think we know your administration's answer.

I understand what you are saying, and from a Bama fans POV, I'm glad you guys didn't go for Gill. There is something special about this guy and I think that he's going to turn out to be a very good coach. His relationships with his players, and the way that he carries himself is something that I would want in a HC. He's turned the absolute worst program in the NCAA around. It was career suicide when he took the job but he has done and exceeded everything asked of him. Gill was the one that I was most afraid of out of all the "candidates".

I think that with what happened, it's going to be hard for Chizik. Iowa State fans and sportswriters both say that Chizik did not make the best of what talent he had at ISU, but made them worse. I know that Iowa St is Iowa state but wouldn't you agree Iowa St>Buffalo?

Chizik went backwards and Gill went forwards...

I agree with the connections here in the south, but I think that you cant hang your hat on connections, because you'll be in the same boat 2-3 years from now. The pressure on Gill (if he would have been named coach) wouldn't have been so strong because most Auburn fans wanted him and it would have made a big media splash. The amount of pressure on Chizik has broken the pressure gauge. He doesn't have a lot of room to work.

If you guys lose one of your first 3 games next year (Ball St game is dangerous), I suspect the Auburn faithfull to get a little uneasy.

Yep just like bama fans did when Saban lost to La-Monroe his first season.

    There is a difference here...

Saban was proven in college and had a :crystal:.

    Chizik is 5-19....

"We need a leader, not a loser"
    "5-19, not what we need"

Did you hear any of that when Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa?

    Didn't think so.

Chizik has a very very short leash whether wou want to admit it or not.

Nice try at spinning it but in fact you dug yourself a hole. It's different alright. As you say, Saban was a well established coach with a big reputation. So it was far worse for him to lose to La-Monroe than if Chizik loses early to an equivalent.

I'm sure the good LSU folks are tired of our dribble on their board so I'm thru with it. Unfortunately you don't seem to know when to quit. They will draw their own conclusions. Sorry Tigahs.

No, he is right. When a fanbase fully backs a coach they will ride excuses and look at it half full. No matter what happens from here to next fall Chizik's supporters will be looking at him with a glass half empty approach. Big difference.

Its the reason that John Brady and Trent Johnson could do the exact same things and Trent would get a pass every time.

:rolleye33: You may want to wipe that brown from your nose...

    Wow

I am not calling you an idiot, but that sure sounds like something an idiot would say. Especially if you referencing that kook Rev. Manning.

    :rofl::rofl:

I've never liked Whitlock and it has nothing to do with my race. I havent liked him since he was at ESPN. Hell I dont like Charles Barkely either, but thats another story.

I've never understood why that would be a negative. In my mind, people in mixed race marriages are color blind.
