I have noticed here lately that both ESPN HD and CBS HD are VERY, VERY grainy looking in HD. Fox, NBC, etc...look perfect. I'm on DirecTV and don't remember this problem starting until recently. What really aggravates me is that the commercials look perfect and the up close, zoomed in shots look great, but the wide angle views look really bad. Even my wife noticed it. If she sees it, then there is a problem because usually she can't see the picky stuff I see.

Anyone else notice this on DirecTV?

BTW...This is on two very nice Samsung LCD TVs with precisely calibrated display settings.

    been with DirecTv for years.
I still find ESPN to have one of the better signals in HD.
CBS has never been great, but i wouldn't call it grainy.

NFL and MLB networks have the BEST pictures though.

don't tell me you actually fell for that scam.

Not sure what scam you are talking about...my settings are from a 2,000+ post thread on AVSForum.com After about a year, one of the guys on that forum came up with the perfect calibration settings for this model of Samsung TVs. They don't seem to be having the issues I am. I do all my install and setup myself. No Geek Squad members in my house!!!

    ok, much better.
I thought you actually let them charge you $250 to come "calibrate" your TV.

Set the TV to the settings that look good to YOUR EYES.
who gives a sh!t if a computer says it is right or not?

but I might be interested in reading that thread on the TV.
I also have a Samsung and wouldn't mind trying some of their ideas.

I have noticed the exact same thing with ESPN and CBS and I have COX in Baton Rouge, so I'm guessing it's the station. It doesn't always look grainy, but you can definitely see the grainy picture when certain cameras are used. It wasn't doing this a month ago.

Hmmm...very grainy picture so we couldn't see the bad call on the interception...in order to help hide the fact that ESPN is forcing the refs to put an undefeated Alabama team in the National championship game because they signed that billion dollar TV deal with the SEC whose office just happens to be in Birmingham, Ala. Coincidence? I don't think so. The pieces of the puzzle are beginning to come together now !!

Further proof that ESPN hates LSU !!!!

Also, the "One small step for mankind" was actually filmed in Idaho to extend the space program and NASA's secret headquarters just happens to be in Huntsville, Ala.

(Jim Garrison was on to something...and don't forget about Marilyn Monroe and section 51)

    It's all making sense now....:hihi:
