On Weis: For being an offensive genius, he called the dumbest play in college football last year, when he passed over a 41 yd FG, potential game winning field goal, to run a drop-back pass on 4th & 7 with less than a minute left against Navy. Navy rushed the bad o-line and sacked Clausen, then won in triple overtime. CLM got a lot of grief for the similar decision against Auburn, even though it wasn't 4th down, but I have never seen Weis called out for that one. I guess it depends on your reputation.

On Auburn: I am not buying that they have the best O-line in the SEC--that resides in Baton Rouge.

In regards to the Gameday panel I think it was evident that you've got a section of the panel that is for entertainment purposes only. Holtz predicting the irish to win 11 games this season is nuts. I'm going to say they will have improved from last season but not to an eleven game winner. Corso is well......Corso. He's normally the one that is going to pick the team "sneaking around the chicken coup". In other words a team that no one else is taking.

Two cases in point: Florida got it for our game with them, then the ol spitter turns around and pep talks us for Kentucky. We all know how that ended...

I can't even watch it anymore. The minute he comes on I do the "la la la la - I'm not watching - la la la la" bit...

ESPN should be ashamed of themselves, taking advantage of an Alzheimers victim like that...

Did anybody else notice that Holtz was a little bit easier to understand and he didn't stutter as much? It could of been that I only listened to him for about 5 minutes and then turned it off, but something sounded different...

i will have to admit, im sort of a specialist when it comes to notre dame- unfortunately i live in south bend- (not by choice) and proudly drive around with my lsu stickers and wear my lsu stuff---

it's not that I/we hate the college per se, it's just that the media gives notre dame so much damn air time/play time/ media coverage. Being an avid lsu fan, and being as good as we've been for the past 5-7 years or so, we basically think its unfair to be as good as we and or other sec teams and of course USC snd stll fall second to notre dame in tv coverage/ and other mentionings-- IE usatoday, espn etc.

the fact is this and these are indisputable facts:
    - notre dame has a horrible head coach
    - notre dame seems to recruit well, but continually falls short-- it cant always be the players fault-- however i think they dont develop the athletes as well as other univeristies
    - notre dame almost always has a weak schedule-- sure they play usc and michigan, and last year penn state, but this year is a complete joke-- if they dont go at least 7-5 and lose their bowl game, b/c they dont deserve to go there it would have to be seen as a failure of a season.
    - join a conference-- it;s not fair that they got almost all of the 8 million fom the sugar bowl 2 years ago and miserably lost-- it sends out a bad vibe for me-- notre dame football, it;s not wether you win or lose, it's how much money you get at the end of the season.
    - sure they had brady quinn etc and he put up incredible numbers , btu seriously, against who? almost every big game he was in ( or notre dame for that matter) THEY not only lost, but then had crappy numbers-- they cant compete with better teams-- anyone numbnuts can throw for 450 yds against North carolina. Can anyone explain the 2007 sugar bowl? i mean notre dame was 11-2 right? how did they get so slaughtered? how could charlie weis fake a punt and even try and go for it after that on a forth down against the 2nd best defense in college football?

i could go on, but i think i hit the highlights.

my favorite notre dame video and is ironically number one on youtube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0Y7yjxJVlc

    its so TRUE!
why arent we number one--- i can guarantee that notre dame will be ranked in teh top 15 by end of week 5 or 6 - if they are undefeated-- why 'cause they get the love form the press and coaches polls.

    SKIPPY

my favorite team is LSU, the sec and WHOEVER PLAYS NOTRE LAME!

Okay, I'm not agreeing with it, but here's the reason(s) behind Auburn being picked over us:

    1. First and foremost, the game is at Auburn. History is against us there.

    2. Quarterback. Sure, Auburn will be breaking in a new starter, but Auburn's has more meaningful experience. (Kodi Burns - 10/26, 145yds., 2 TD, 1 INT vs. Andrew Hatch - 1/2, 9 yds., 0 TD)

    3. Rushing. WE know what we have, but virtually nobody else does. Williams is our returning leading rusher with something like 600 yards last year and Ben Tate of Auburn was almost a 1,000 yard rusher with an experienced backup in Lester.

    4. Receiving. Did ANY of our returning receivers get over 500 yards last year? They will this year without a doubt, but Auburn's returning talent has done more.

Basically, it's a guilty until proven innocent situation for LSU. Once our "new" guys come out and show what they are capable of, everyone will be back on LSU's jock. I just hope the hype machine waits until AFTER the Auburn game.
