I don't know how many people have personally meet Eric Reid but I did yesterday in the Annapolis mall. He was visiting his father and uncle for the holiday when I ran into them and I would just like to say that they were some of the coolest people I have ever meet. We talked LSU football in the Champs store for 40 mins, his father and uncle were just as down to earth as he was.
Never met Reid but I can say that the few members of the team that I have met have all been very cool, well-spoken, and down to earth.
Good to hear and this little tidbit makes me more of an Eric Reid fan. When I was a kid, guys like Dalton Hilliard and Eric Martin were larger than life. When I went to LSU during the Dinardo years, it was definitely much different to have classes with players, see them out at bars, and form opinions of them based on their personality rather than their actual play on the field. Now that I've been out of college for 10+ years, I'm back to judging them strictly by their play on the field since I don't have the up close view. It's almost like I don't want to know everything about the players for fear that it may impact the innocence of simply cheering for their play on the field. On the other hand, hearing good things about character traits is always encouraging. I think Miles does consider these types of intangibles more than other coaches during the recruiting process.
My uncle and his family live in the Dutchtown area. My uncle had 2 children at Dutchtown HS when Eric Reid was there, and said Eric was a great kid. I am thrilled to have him represent LSU! And, he's a stud on the field as well.
I can honestly say that appealing a parking ticket in Mr. Reid's office was one of the most intimidating experiences of my college life. I'll take your word for it when you say he was a pleasure to speak with in a non-business setting.
I can back you up. Eric was our neighbor for several years, he and my son were good friends until we moved away. Eric used to house sit for us and was always a very polite kid and very intelligent. I remember him winning several academic awards in middle school. I also remember he had a great work ethic as a young kid. I often saw him jogging around the subdivision with his father and brother. I am very happy for him and look forward to watching him for the next few years and at the next level.
