I know things must be really boring when a topic about spelling and grammar are a popular thread in the Tigers Den. For me though, it really doesn’t matter. I sort of look at it this way: with most of the forum posting during the day, while at work, many are probably trying to post quickly so they don’t get caught or are posting from their smart phones, so mistakes are going to happen. As for misused words, well, if they weren’t so common I might be a bit more critical. That said, I’m in no way perfect in the spelling and grammar world, so I don’t throw stones, although I might poke fun at someone just for shyts and giggles.
True, but it's not a mistake when someone types..."I hope we don't loose to oregon in the first game, because that might cause us to loose the next few too. And if we loose too many games, we want go to a good bowl game. These are not mistakes. this is someone who doesn't know how to spell lose. There is no way someone made the same mistake 3 times.
Words convey thought. As long as that is being transferred accurately from one noggin to the other, don't see the need to be upset. Mark Twain made a nice living at it and Festus didn't do so bad himself. Why not be gracious, whatever fans want to say, I say, "that's mighty thoughty of ya."
This is the case for me. Plus I had a learning disability early on in my life, I was always behind a few years in grammar and spelling. I never really caught up nor did I really get the English language. I didn't read until second grade, which caused me to repeat third. Just had to work hard to double check my grammar as it doesn't come naturally to me. I always have a hard time with words like lose and loss... It's just how my brain is wired. Guess that is why I am a CS and Math grad. I try to always remember their, there, they're but it's not natural thing to me. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
My 2 cents: I would rather read a post that has great content and has one or two words misspelt/misused than read the next post with some azzhole correcting the misspelt word. If spelling and grammar bother you that much send the guy a pm instead of trying to humilate him and make yourself seem "smarter than he is".... to me you are just coming off as a prick and cluttering up the board with stuff no one (besides you and one or two others) actually care about.
Same goes for political correctness. What you think all the females on the board, either type perfectly, are not subject to the same criticism, or don't exist.
