The act does not deprive citizens of any right. It just makes it easier for the US to revoke citizenship of people like Anwar Al-Awlaki, the US-born terrorist who sent bombs in cargo planes and the Times Square bomber. Then we can kill them legally. The checks and balances of the court system is not invalidated and citizenship cannot be revoked without due process.
Read the friggin' Act! It is all about definitions. Amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to include engaging in or purposefully and materially supporting hostilities against the United States to the list of acts for which U.S. nationals would lose their nationality. Defines "hostilities" as any conflict subject to the laws of war. Now the law provides for removal of citizenship for: (1) obtaining naturalization in a foreign state. (2) taking an oath of allegiance to a foreign state. (3) entering, or serving in, the armed forces of a foreign state if such armed forces are engaged in hostilities against the United States. (4) accepting, serving in, or performing the duties of any office, post, or employment under the government of a foreign state. (5) making a formal renunciation of nationality before a diplomatic or consular officer of the United States in a foreign state. (6) making in the United States a formal written renunciation of nationality. (7) committing any act of treason against, or attempting by force to overthrow, or bearing arms against, the United States.
Bingo, what is the definition of treason? Some occupy protestors have been called terrorists. I posted the article above. I think Obama has been called a terrorist. A lot of labels are now being used loosely. If you are part of a protest, or you break the law doing it or commit violence they can take away your citizenship put a label on you and you are history. IF you aren't giving a trial or due process they can label you any way they want and throw you Tiger butt in the slammer until the war that never ends is over. I thought you believed even the terrorists should be given a trial? I thought you were against the Patriot Act and all of that over stuff. This stuff makes that look like Tiger pudding! Bearing arms against the US may soon be if you own a gun. They are cracking down on everything else, that is next! For the record my demeanor here is nice, I am just trying to figure this stuff out and hope all of this is a bad dream!

Treason is specifically defined in the Constitution. Ignorance is no excuse. Like you are doing now. The Law does not react to foolish rhetoric. The Law offers pacific definitions, why donut you actually read it? This is a lie. This has not been proposed. Citizens rights to due process are not invalidated in this law. It only applies to people who have knowingly taken up arms against America and forfeited their citizenship. The Patriot Act has the potential to be used for political purposes internally. It should be fixed with more check and balances from the courts, because if political abuse ever happens it will make Watergate look like a tiny scandal. It does not. Those articles you read are hyperbole-filled diatribes filled with speculation, fear-mongering, and outright lies. Do you ever bother to check up on things? You are really getting paranoid these days. No one . . . no one at all has suggested that Constitutionally protected gun ownership is considered to be bearing arms against the US. It is just another hyper-suspicious, fear-mongering falsehood.
So is everything else in the constitution, first, second amendment, 14th amendment, etc. And yet the government outlaws guns, makes rules on religion, violates peoples rights to privacy. No I am not, I clearly read it in the article above, you couldnt have read it. It clearly states that some have labeled folks terrorists. It is not a lie, I don't lie, I have told you that before, when you read enough information like I do it is clear and it should be clear to you that.... If the government can revoke your citizenship OR arrest you for any reason and NOT give you due process, any trial or lawyer they can get away with anything for any reason. What am I missing here? You don't feel the same way about this defense act? Maybe you think the government, politicians won't abuse their power. It will be interesting. I have no clue what you mean here, I did clink on the links inside some of those articles that took you to the governments own page providing information these articles talk about. I have also read a lot of the National Defense Act myself. Maybe, I hope you are right but I see it as only the beginning. I see it as more erosion of our Constitution and our rights to pursue freedom and liberty. I do have hope when I read your thought on these things but do me a favor. Enter a smile at the end because sometimes I feel like you are yelling! I don't have the stomach to debate much anymore but I only post these things because I do feel threatened by my own government as an American. I see the government growing, becoming more powerful every day, corruption and I don't see anything being fixed.
