For a program that is used to contending for a NC it is unsettling to disscuss the ending of a season on October. We had the offense for most of the season. But in the end the O and the D failed us tonight.

Pitiful end to the season in October.

Man, we have truly become one spoiled ass fanbase. We still have games against a border rival in Arkansas, a game against a border rival and Heisman trophy winner in A&M which is huge for recruiting, and a game against the team we all love to hate, we could ruin their season and the season is over? Not to mention could still play in good bowl game against a team we've never see.

Maybe the weed just has me pacified but I'm not ready to just quit watching LSU football for this season. Everyone thought 8-4 9-3 10-2 preseason anyway. We knew attrition on D was alot to overcome and now that our preseason worries have come to pass, we are pissed.

Come on we can still fuck Alabama and the SEC over, and beat A&M.

This is the spirit. Am I down about losing to Ole Piss? Yes definitely. but there is still plenty left to play for and if I could cheer for LSU when we got our asses stomped I sure the hell can cheer for a slightly down year LSU team.

I get the frustration, I understand why people are upset, LSU's coaches need to take a hard look at their philosophies, especially on defense. Chavis is starting to look like Miles when he controlled the O. Almost an unwillingness to adapt or change when the same old shit isn't working. That 2 deep zone is schematically a decent quarterback's best friend. Just find the hole. And when you get zero pressure on the qb, the guy only has to find the opening. Any good playcaller, with capable skill players will be able to effectively move the football on that scheme. Unless you have studs on D that force turnovers or get to the QB.

Add the youth and inexperience on D and that spells disaster. When you have this problem and you play this scheme getting pressure on the QB is essential, and we haven't gotten it. But it seems the only changes Chavis is willing to make is shuffling personnel. Still seems he isn't willing to bring more than 4 on a consistent basis. He has blitzed more, but our guys don't disguise it very well.

That whole last 30 seconds was mind boggling but I guess that's our penance for being LSU fans.

Still, alot to play for, and probably our last chance to watch the 2 best receivers and tailback we have had possibly of all time.

Thank you, LaSalle, for being the voice of reason. I am disappointed about tonight's performance, to be sure. To leap from disappointment to saying the season is over, is ridiculous. Enough said...

This is the most depressing to me. That in October, LSU's biggest hope is to play spoiler to another team.

Call it spoiled but LSU's level of expected success has been raised and it's not coming back down. Hell, growing up most of the LSU fan based still lived off of the 58' championship and had high expectations.

It would have sucked but losing to Alabama and even A&M would have been acceptable. Losing to Ole Miss is unacceptable.

I have to admit that I bought in to the idea that our new, high flying offense was going to carry our young defense this season, and that we had a chance at the SEC and NC.

I think reality set in last night. This just isn't a championship caliber team. Early expectations were to finish second or third in the the division, and maybe win 10 games. That looks about right now. (That of course will depend on how the team take this loss)

Our offense has turned out better than I ever expected, but turnovers and falling 17 down last night really derailed our game. Our defense is just not talented and experienced enough to overcome all the players we loss.

I think next season this will flip flop. Our offense will struggle but our defense will be much better. So is the crazy world of college football.

We still have a very good team this season and I think we can compete with any team out there, but not if we play like we did last night. I hope that the players are not going to take a "the season is over" mentality like a lot of the fans are doing right now. Maybe now that some of the pressure is off, they can focus more on playing solid football.

Not happy, but have come back down to earth.

I just want to beat fucking Bama...
