I think that LSU is one of those teams that plays up (or down) to the competition... Florida has not been a world beater yet this year either. They have dominated their games, but they do not look like the unbeatable juggernaut that many thought that they would be. LSU has a chance here, but only if the mistakes are kept low and they can force some mistakes by UF. Befuddled Tebow or non-befuddled Brantley will throw a pick or two. THE KEY TO THIS GAME!!!!!!!! is red zone offense. LSU should have had 21 points at the end of the first half last week. If they can improve their redzone offense, LSU's scoring potential will increase 10 fold.
Meyer has done a great job here. Look how we average well over 200 yards rushing a game. He has retained the florida fun but brought in old school toughness up the middle. I hope it keeps getting better.
I agree with this. All this nonsense about UF perhaps being one of the greatest teams of all time is absolute horse$hit. Last time I checked, they haven't even gone undefeated in a season under Meyer, whereas there have been teams in the past that went 2+ seasons without a loss. I still think that they're playing at a much higher level than us right now, and we will have to have a lot of things go our way to win. But they ain't even in the conversation of 'greatest all-time.'
I think we have to score 28 points or more to beat Florida and I'm not sure their defense will permit it. Tebow or no Tebow, the Florida defense is strong, talented and scary fast.
Both teams are super fast. This will be a test for the Gators. Tennessee and Kentucky are not as fast on D, nor is the O line as stout as yours.
Yeah the Gators are overrated? Two Natl championships in 3 years and a Heisman winner? Ive never heard Meyer or the players say there were the best team all time. Please dont use ludicrous exxagerations which are untrue to try and deny another truth. Yes Meyer is on the right track with his record but hes no ROckne, Bryant, Schembechler, etc but hes starting well. And yes the Gators are not the Nebraska teams of 71 or 95, or USC in 72, TIde in 61, or the Sooners in the mid 50s with a 47 game streak. But in the last few years they are a great team, and a good team since the early 90's.
how much florida won in previous years doesnt matter. the fact that tt won a heisman doesnt matter. whether or not florida coaches or players have stated they are the best team all time doesnt matter what matters is Sat. chaos may be right. because if tigers win then florida is overrated.
Now what you say is partly true. What one does positively in the past "can" matter in the present. You shouldnt rest on it, but you can build confidence on it. You can take confidence when your down in a game and think,"Hey weve been here before boys and we came out of it. Let's go for it again. Dont lose hope..." Those victories are owned by many of the starters on saturday and they want to continue that and win just as much as the Tigers do. If Florida loses they may be overrated a little but losing to a #4 team is not bad. Once youre in the top 5 they are all pretty much in the same league IMHO. Id rather lose to you all as a great team than appalachian state, hear what im sayin? Its a respectable loss-especially without our #1 scoring producer at a night game in Baton ROuge with a redshirt. Anyhow best of luck to ya gumborue
Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say they were 'over-rated.' In fact, in this very thread, I've said a great deal about how tough they are and how hard it will be for us to win. And I also didn't say anything about Meyer or the players making that claim. But I have heard a number of talking heads/journalists throw that phrase around in association with the Gators. Talk about ludicrous exaggerations. . .perhaps you should dig a bit deeper or pay closer attention before making such assumptions.
