They have a hold on south Florida, in and around Miami, like no other school. There's no doubt about that. One great example of that is how difficult it is to get kids to leave that area that attend St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale. I'd have to look (and then count, arrgghh) but I'd guesstimate approximately 75% of their class is from in-state.

(Side note: Something I noticed within the last year...If we took Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia—which are the three most fertile grounds for recruiting D1 players in the SEC footprint behind Florida—you'll find as many kids from New Jersey as from those three states combined.)

Having an incredible pull in recruiting doesn't make it a top ten head coaching gig in my eyes. A program having the ability to win when they've got a good coach in place doesn't make it a top ten job either. These make the position a decent job, certainly better than a lot in the ACC, but top ten?

Let's take a look at fan support for a second. In FBS play the average attendance is a little over 45K per game. Miami is under that. In 2014 their attendance numbers are down 21% as compared to 2013.

Revenue? They were in the red to the tune of 2.7 million last fiscal year.

Facilities? Their home field is definitely better than say, Legion Field, but good lord that stadium needs to be razed. If you took a minute and ran a google search on ranking FBS football facilities you'll easily find Miami ranked in the worst categories.

Is Donna Shalala still the President down there? That in itself removes it from consideration, no? [IMG]

Not the pay , red I think he means in what the Alumni can come up with as in player "benefits" the stuff we are not supposed to talk about
As you say a downgrade in schedule : He would have a team in the SECC game each year .The Gator fans are just as hungry as LSU fans and have the same unsatisified thrist as the Bama fans
Miles would be the shot in the arm for the Gators just like Saban was for Bama . The Alumni boys and gals would send money in for recuriting . You know it do cost a little bit for that in the SEC .
LSU has always paid coaches competitively yes , but Miles could get a pay raise if he wants it , with a built in package that winning the SECCG there would be a hiden bouns and for the NC another Bouns plus a large pay raise .
In state talent is good , this season we LSU have instate talent where we really needed out of state talent there . I would say Miss State has more instate talent than LSU or Bama . I MAYBE WRONG THERE I DO NOT LOOK INTO WHERE A PLAYER COMES FROM JUST WHAT HE DOES EACH WEEK .To be the best you have to get the best nation wide . Yes ,LSU and Bama have a lot of instate talent , and I know LSU loses a few to other teams , I do not know about Bama .
Now I am not sure but I have heard rumors that churches gets a few new face lifts , parents get unexpected good paying jobs , sisters get help going to college , cars just get left parked in parking lots with keys in them , just the little things . Not so much "Oh I just love (fill in the University ) ---->The ------ of ------ but more like :"Hey dude what ya'll gonna give me to save your butts ?"
I am a bit confused with the (420%) 1.5% larger recruiting budget in a state with 420% of Louisiana's population is that what LSU has each year or what the Alumni comes up with each year ?
I would say close to an average of $150,000.00 each season to field a winning team in the SEC each week / total cost . That may not even come close when you think about the food , room and board , class room help, transportation , healthcare , trips home and ect . I know a little about the food . It is surprising just how much food a HS player can put away . You think you have a large bowl of pinto beans and a big pone of cornbread , but it disappears when my grandson who is only 220 pounds sits down and eats then there is the meat , and the other veggies . 4 or 5 tall glasses of tea
All for what ? Braggin rights ,other than that it has no meaning . Kinda like guitar pickers right ?Now I do not know about ya'll but I do love SEC Football, [(Sports){LSU STYLE} ]
When I put it like that , Yes it is worth every penny of the cost . GEAUX TIGERS !! GEAUX !!!

I can't imagine Miles going to another school in the SEC unless we can him, and probably not then. One of his strong traits is character, right?
