Going through this fun with my son right now too. Luckily, he wants to stay somewhat close to Texas. But this means that I had to sit through a tour of Aggieland. Thank God he hated it immediately!
My daughter refused to look at any school in Texas. She toured LSU last Monday...and hated it. But that was primarily because she's pretty much made up her mind about Flagler. (I ordered her a t-shirt and sweatshirt today...)
She's a great kid. Liberal, but great. A lot of my friends are liberal anyway, and I am very socially liberal, so I guess she came by it naturally.
I hope she's ready for life at Flagler. It is small, I mean really small. Small classes too, if you miss, they notice and hunt you down. It's the kind of place professors know all the kids and care. A good place to grow but not misbehave. No Coed dorms and no "visitation" is allowed. Also no alcohol and strict drug policies. Unless of course they recently went woke.... In other words, not much freedom to #&*% it up. Pretty safe environment and most of the kids have jobs in local restaurants, bars, coffee shops or other tourist related business. Also the beach is about 10 miles, she'll need wheels. And it can still get cold in St. Augs too, a lot colder than central Florida. Lots of good restaurants. We like the Columbia for Cuban/latin and Harry's for a taste of NOLA.
