EUGENE — Oregon is an underdog for the second time in as many games.

The No. 25 Ducks (4-2) opened as three-point underdogs against No. 10 Iowa State (8-3) in the Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Jan. 2 (1 p.m., ESPN), according to VegasInsider.com, which lists the line from online sportsbook Circa Sports. The move moved to ISU minus-4.

UO is 5-4 against Big 12 teams but has never played ISU. Oregon is 2-0 all-time in the Fiesta Bowl, which has never featured Iowa State.

This long season through a pandemic has whittled the bowl lineup from the 43 games that were originally scheduled to fewer than 30. That's a lot less college football and there is no reason to be happy about it.

EUGENE — Oregon defensive coordinator Andy Avalos is among two candidates to interview for the head coaching job at Boise State, according to the Idaho Press.

Avalos, a Boise State alum and former Broncos defensive coordinator,.. and Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator and former Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore have both been interviewed for the head coaching job, according to the report.

A report earlier Saturday by FootballScoop indicated Moore is the lead candidate but should he choose to stay in the NFL, Boise State has “another alum ready to go.”
